Dear All,
Has anyone else had a problem with a separating rubber roof trim on the leading edge of the lifting roof, as in the photo? I've only just noticed it and my heart sank - fearing that it was an early sign of corrosion. However although the rubber has lifted above and below this short section the paintwork itself appears unblemished right up to the front and on either side. I cannot see any sign of rot. Any suggestions on what best to do?
Cheers,
Richard

It has started on our 3 year old coast. Did you have any response to your question or insights to share from your experience?

I had vw look at it under warranty but they said it was related to moss/plant life growing/seeding there.

Carefully peel back the seal and look for signs of rust, either on tge roof paint or in the slot of the Seal.

Moss o_O The dealer has no clue, what evidence of moss ? Moss distorting the steel reinforcement? That would require it to be rusting !

DO NOT be fobbed off , as mentioned above the roof corrosion starts from very small issues

I will take a good look. Is it possible to remove the seal and put it back on? Or just carefully pull it back to see what can be seen?

I’m pretty green/naive when it comes to doing this kind of thing.

Thanks

use the search function to find lots of posts (many from me)

Peel back in section, clean the crud from the edge of the roof which will be under the rubber.

press back on after inspection

do not wack it back on with your palm etc. (press it back carefully I've seen vw dealer techs do this when fitting new. That is the Best way to damage it)

Rinse , Repeat

As a relatively ignorant person when it comes to maintenance etc., is it easy to peel back the seal and replace it if all of? Or am I likely to need to buy a new one to get it flat?

Just saw your earlier response. Thanks.
