I have just ordered a set of Dubfleckta retrofit wind deflectors and so am therefore wondering about a screen cover. Silver Screens say that there’s won’t fit. Has has anyone got any thoughts? I’m looking for maximum insulation. Thank you.

We had both internal Brandrup silver insulated screen covers and a Comfortz external one. We have also had Dubflectas. I've no experience of the Silver Screen product but I cannot see any reason why it wouldn't fit with the Dubfectas fitted.

I have VW wind deflectors fitted to my Cali which are quite proud from the door frame as they actually stick to the door frame as opposed to slotting into the window aperture. I also have a Silver Screens cover for the windscreen and door windows. It fits perfectly well over the deflectors and I have experienced no problems with condensation etc even in freezing weather. Hope this helps.

I have the Heko deflectors - no fitting issues with Rainbow Screen cover but does impede the air circulation through the deflector / open window...

We have the Dubflecta Sleek and silver screen covers no issues three vans now.
Thank you. It was Silver Screens who said it wouldn’t work maybe because mine are retrofit. I’ll ask again.

I too spoke to a lady at Silver Screens before purchase. She said they would definitely fit but they may stand off the door windows slightly which might give rise to slight condensation. I have not had any issues even in very cold weather.

It does make me laugh all this talk about Insulated Windscreen Covers to stop condensation.
Unless every living body sleeping in the vehicle STOPS breathing there will be condensation. Unless you have adequate ventilation the water vapour will condense out, if not on the windscreen then on all the other cold body panels, in the kitchen cupboards/wardrobe cupboards and behind all the plastic trim panels or on the internal roof panel etc: This is elementary physics. The California has NO body panel insulation but does have a Parking Heater, as standard in the Ocean.
Get the ventilation right and it doesn’t matter what you use on the windscreen, internal/external or the blinds that come with the vehicle, you will not have any condensation anywhere.

Yes, you are quite right. In my experience I have no condensation on my windscreen whilst using a thermal cover in cold conditions with plenty of ventilation and no heating. I have also experienced lots of condensation on the windscreen in cold conditions with no thermal cover with no heating and ventilation. I prefer not to use heating overnight. Each to their own.

Doesn't matter about heating but ventilation to avoid condensation. If you don't get it on the windscreen when using the cover then it just means you have it elsewhere unless you change the degree of ventilation when using the screen. Has nothing to do with using the heater or not.

I think heating will make a difference. Warmed air will support more moisture. Insulated (warm surface) won't allow condensation. The moist air inside the van will only condense on a cold surface, which is usually the cold front windows. It would condense on the inside panels if you had the cupboard doors open, etc... You are correct that ventilation is key and ventilating the van fully in the mornings to rid the moist air usually works for us. I think the OP was concerned with the fitment over the deflectors rather than condensation.

Correct.

+ maximum insulation.
I don’t consider my cupboards and interior trim airtight and ventilating the vehicle for a few hours after sleeping for 8 or so hours I wouldn’t consider adequate and prefer to have a ventilation setup that prevents it in the first place. My opinion, but it seems to work.

I know if I use the silver screens I don't get condensation on the inside of the windscreen with or without the heater but if I rely on the pull across blinds then the inside of the screen is awash with it.

And when you insulate the windscreen where does the condenstion go then?

That was the initial and only point I wished to make yesterday. In addition, the heat loss at the ‘front end’ is greatly reduced too.

I have no problem with wind deflectors causing the screen cover not to fit and like many others find them a bonus as you can have the windows open at any time to allow ventilation.
I did find find a problem with a lightweight screen cover (summer use) in that it was designed for a Transporter van, the Cali awning rails on each side made the cover a very tight fit at that point. Hasn't split the stitching as yet. Bluelagoon supplied.

Ahhhhh. Is that why they split. I’ve got a fuel lagoon summer one and in need of repair!
Anybody good with a sewing machine

Took mine back to have a wedge section put in but only did some reinforcing stitching and used my Cali for photo. Wasn't impressed.

After all that I will spare you the science lesson about condensation and now answer your question. Yes the cover still fits over wind deflectors.

I use a Fuellaoon cover on mine with Climair deflectors have had no problems covering side windows and cover is great quality and Made in Britain. Cover isn’t thermal but does give complete blackout inside when window blinds are all pulled down.
Picture not great as the wind was getting up when I fitted it.
