Seat belt warning, Question.

Ok, if I don’t put my seat belt On I have a Red Warning Symbol on the Dashboard. But is there also an Audible Warning Sound as well?

Mine seems to have stopped. Just the Dashboard light.
Clarista shows the Seat Belt Warning is enabled. So Disabled the Re-Enabled it so will see what happens when we next move.

Hi are you getting the ticking noise when operating the indicators ? The dash insert uses the same speaker for the seatbelt worming as it does for the indicators.

Thanks for that. Yes, the Indicators make a noise when activated. Will check the Seat Belt Warning tomorrow.

Indicators and Low Temperature sounds present. Seat Belt Warning Not, just the Dashboard Indicator On and goes Off when Seat Belt connected.
Another thing I’ve noticed Stop/Start has not worked with AirCon at 21c , or Off.
Fridge is On and I have a Towbar bike rack plugged in. Does Stop/Start stop working when a trailer is connected?
Everything else OK.

Hi no start stop will work with a a towbar conected. There is a long list of why it won’t work but basics are in dpf regen, low outside air temp, heater on max, seatbelt not conected, high use of consumers. So the seat belt and stop start maybe linked

Thanks for that. It was all working, well Stop/Start was before we left on this trip. We’ll see what happens when we get back and everything is Off.

My understanding is that stop/start doesn't work with tow bar electrics connected. Caravan or bike rack, it can't differentiate. We were told by VW Lancaster when we collected our Cali that stop/start would not work if electrics connected. That is certainly the case when we towed our caravan or when we connect our bike rack.

Interesting. Could be a simple way to disable it then rather than playing about with relays etc that I had planned.

On our 2014 SE, plugging in the tow bar electrics disabled stop start.

On our 2018 Ocean, it doesn’t, so VW must have changed it.

Slightly off topic, if you have side scan, it’s disabled when tow bar electrics are plugged in. Annoyingly, it stays off when you unplug, and you have to re-enable manually.

Are they factory fitted, dealer fitted or did the dealer get somebody else to fit the electrics.
Whilst a low trailer probably wouldn't cause any problems if you are towing a caravan or a taller white trailer the glare of the fog lights reflecting of a near white surface would be very distracting.
On that basis it seems they should logically be disabled.

The rear fogs on the van are disabled when anything is plugged into the trailer socket. The rear fogs on the trailer, be it a bike rack or caravan, will function.

I have assumed that this is to prevent a very bright red glow in your rear view mirror reflected off the front of what ever you are towing. But suspect there is a more technical and possibly legal reason for this.

Well can confirm that plugging into the Towbar electrics, factory fitted by VW, on a MY2015 SE disables Stop/Start and also Disables the Seat Belt Warning tone as well.

It makes absolutely no sense why it disables the seatbelt warning I will look at the wiring diagrams and tech info tomorrow. To try and work out why that is happening.
