Strange wear on winter tyres.

Any ideas what is causing this? Made less than 10k on these so far. Pretty visible line almost in the middle on both front tires.

Not easy to tell from the photo. Are the lines proud or grooves?

Very odd. What brand / model are they? I’d be tempted to email their customer service with the images.

Assume tracking checked/set correctly.

Could be a manufacturing defect with the inner cords. The raised area might not have same support as the rest of the tread and gets pressed in which results in a raised tread.
Just a thought.

Brand is continental can't recall the name but an exact winter model recommended by vw

Email dunlop in Germany if you can find an address. I did some work with them once and they were very good.

I've seen a similar line on motorcycle tyres. I was told it's a different compound rubber to allow electrostatic discharge.

Got a response from the Dunlop.
They've explained exactly the same, that there is a special line from another compound to allow electrostatic discharge.
