This might be a stupid question.

When the Cali is on hook up/on charge ,does this charge the main battery, or only the two in the vehicle.

Thanks

It charges the two lesurebats. first , then the starterbat. ....as far as i'm aware ....
There will be other opinions .
There's no need to put a extra charger on the starterbat. as long it's not been flattend by any reason.

Not a stupid question.

The hook-up primarily charges the two leisure batteries. There is as trickle charge that goes to the starter I believe but nothing to rely upon to get you started after letting the battery go flat.

When on hook up please be frugal with use of anything that is forward of the habitation unit .... radio and courtesy lights in particular. By habit when I know I am going to be stationary for a few days I switch off the courtesy lights.

The radio is very thirsty. Take a portable one for when you are on site.

To add: as far as I know it also depends on the age of your Cali (sorry couldn‘t see that i your profil with tapatalk). I thought older ones line my 2004 o e doesn‘t have a „connection“ to the start bat? So hook up only charge leisure bats.
I hope someone can correct me or has more intel on this.

Changed around 2006, I believe.

I had a new Kenwood DB radio/satnav fitted last year. After two disastrous "specialist" attempts to install it, a firm in Andover did it properly, and installed a switch in the glovebox so you could link the radio to the leisure batteries, while stationary, so you don't worry about draining the starter battery. Bloody marvellous idea!
