Swanage Main Beach Car Park

The Swanage main beach car park now has a length restriction which requires any vehicle longer than 4.8m to park in the small number of “multi use” bays rather than the main parking bays. Interesting to see how this works in practice as lots of cars are now over 4.8m. We managed to squeeze into one of the multi use bays!

My newish Subaru Outback is 7cm too long to park there, then. Crazy thing going on with this type of restrictions in the UK.

Need to be careful in Swanage unless you are up for a fight. A lot of their parking is for "cars" only & they do not regard a Cali as being a car.

When I go to Swanage (usually for kayaking) I use the Broad road carpark. (near / above the pier)

Most of the parking in Dorset along the coast is anti motorhome/campervan. You are banned or expected to pay extra cost per hour ove car.

We are planning a few days in Dorset before Easter. Even though Dorset council allow you to filter parking for motorhomes, some carparks exclude motorhomes over 4.8m.

Not too helpful
