Hi All,

I'm new to the forum and wanted to reach out an say hi. Picked up my 24 plate last week and just returned from a couple of nights "camping".

Read the manual , watched the videos so think I'm up to speed on my new purchase.

I'm planning to drive to Spain later this month, but need to arrange a better Insurance cover as Admiral only cover European travel as third party only - which is no good to anyone!

Congratulations !
There’s a few threads on van insurance on here - dedicated motorhome/campervan coverage may be more suitable as this doesn’t exclude travelling with gas canisters nor cooking, has a inclusions for camping items etc
We have a Green Card (or whatever it’s currently called) with our insurance for all of the EU. Shout if you need a hand.

Try LV. I found their rates competitive. A lot on here use them.

Also Safeguard. No limit to number of days you can spend in EU. The insurance is actually through AXA, so a good insurer.

Congratulations on your purchase! We bought ours a couple of months ago and are loving it too! I’m curious re your insurance as we are also with Admiral but it includes up to 3 months European cover fully comp. I believe it’s only the essential insurance which doesn’t include it, might be worth upgrading to the next level of insurance if that is the case.

Admiral always offered foreign full cover that's why I insured my cars with them. Are you sure, you don't have it included?

We started our camping experience 3 years ago in a VW converted Transporter and loved it. We decided to adopt a California Ocean T6.1 in January this year. Quite honestly, there are pluses and minuses with each type of vehicle but we are generally very happy with our choice and spent 6 weeks in Europe in both. Slovenia was our new ultimate destination this year and it is wonderful.

Our insurance (Howden or A plan) covers us fully comprehensive for UK and for Europe up to 180 days. It is a specialist campervan insurance however it is expensive and I will be trying others next year. But we are insuring a very expensive vehicle.

Greenflag recovery is good (covers our car and van) but in Europe, we relied on Vw cover which is free within our warranty with the exception of French toll roads which are a private concern.
Have fun, it is life changing. :welcome
