T6 VW California Delays

We ordered SusiBus T6 back in November with a predicted delivery in March 2016, we're still waiting to take delivery, so it will be around 6 months wait as we have been told it should be available at the end of this month, which would make the prediction that if you ordered now you won't get one until 2017 highly likely, or have VW just getting their own back on us for giving them so much grief over roof corrosion, options list errors, bike racks, etc.

I ordered mine in October 2015 and it arrived in mid March 2016 the build week was WK 2.
Its worth waiting for

Had the anticipated email today (after reading this thread) from the dealer informing us our build slot has moved from an original week 19 (never confirmed) to estimated week 33. How can VW after 4 months still not be able to give a fixed build date and it is for this reason we are cancelling the order. I have no faith that week 33 will not become week 40 and so on. Life is too short. They blamed the MY change this is something again I not understand as I ordered 4 months ago.

Anyone have a nice T5 they are looking to sell? we have 30-35K burning a hole in our pocket.

Then when we do order a T6 in a year or so at least the build time will be more palatable with a California on the drive already.

I understand your frustration Harry. I too have considered cancelling as I ordered in February with a delivery expected in time for the kids summer holidays from school. I now have a week 31 provisional build date so an autumn delivery.

Have you considered hiring for the summer holidays then you will still get the experience knowing your new one is coming? Bear in mind that Vehicle excise duty goes up considerably next April for vehicles over £40k in value.

Doesn't sound promising. I ordered mine mid-February and was told then it would be built week 21- this week. As of last Friday the dealer (Eurovans) still couldn't confirm it would be built this week, and I haven't heard from them. Lack of info from vw themselves is appalling, and if it is delayed I think I'll be cancelling as well.

Well, if you had your order active you would most likely see the estimated production week go back and forth. I originally had june, moved to september and now it is late July. Who knows?
I have never had these strange delivery times ehen ordering a new car before, but it seems on the T models its quite normal, at least when reading german forums.

Our initial thought was to hire for this summer as we have an 18 day trip to Italy planned this was looking like around 2K in hire fees. We then decided that another 4 months of missed weekends away, days out in the Cali just wasn’t worth it so opted to search for a T5 over the next couple weeks meaning we can enjoy the vehicle this summer. I’m sure the T6 would be worth the be worth the wait but I’m not patient enough and are still annoyed we have seen a 4 month delay for what can only be VW over subscribing and then lying (they are known for thisJ) about deliver dates. After all we were told 4 months was normal maybe even 3 months for delivery, silly me for believing a car sales man when on here everyone said 6months min.

I was unaware of the VED changes in 2017 and a quick shows that the T6 150 DSG will see an increase of £240 in road tax. Still not enough for me to stick it out on the waiting list. I hope come October I don’t regret the decision.

It's worth phoning round the dealers and see if they have anything in stock, that is is you are not too fussed over spec, we phoned Hereford VW, they had a silver one just arrived in from the docks, we went straight down and bought it. Drove it home a few days later! After reading about all these delays we realise we were very lucky but there may be a Cali out there with your name on it!

We are looking at replacing ours in the new year, we called around today and most dealers said delivery would be Feb 2017 now. If dealers know this I can't see any deals to be had on ex demo stock?

Speaking to a dealer earlier in the week he said they had already sold 22 of their 25 allocated Californias for 2016, anything over 25 will be made in 2017.
True or Bs only time will tell.
Don't know if all dealers have the same allocation or if busier Cali dealers start the year with a higher number to sell.
Anyway it's all a bit of a lottery and a badly organised one at that!

Mine's got the code 40 "failed consignment" status thing at the moment. Told by dealer and VWCS that the "failed consignment" status is caused by an admin issue or shortage of available transport to the dealer, and should resolve itself in a few days...we shall see.

Informed by dealer today that having ordered mid Feb with an expected delivery of July that no DSG models will be built until August at the earliest. Also the 6 speaker change to 8 speakers for the my2017 vehicles is because the back four speakers in the door cards have been replaced by two wide band speakers with apparent better performance.

Strange goings on at the Vw factory indeed.

Looks like the build dates are very sporadic. Our order went in end of Feb. Got a build date of 26 for a 150 Ocean manual with a few extras thrown in. Then a call to say it's been shifted to week 22 so pick up hopefully mid July.

Are are there any others with week 21 build? Our California status is currently in production.
We have our Beach scheduled for week 21.
I haven't spoke to our dealership for a couple of weeks now, but I've been assured that if the build is delayed and not here in time for our planned trip they will supply us with a van to use.
So I'm thinking positive, and that no news is good new ;)

cheers
Peter

I was giving similar information, be interested hear who you dealer is?

I ordered mine at the end of March, I was informed yesterday that I have been given a provisional build date for week 36. I too have heard that there is a delay with the 150 DSG, and also potentially with the Alcantara seats.
I was hoping to get it before the end of August as we are going away early September, oh well....it looks like we are having another three weeks in the tent.
Can't blame the dealer as we were informed that the delivery date could be in-excess of 6 months so we were half prepared for this. All good things come to those who wait eh!!!!!!!

Our build date has slipped from week 30 to week 34. Should be delivered just in time for the October Indian summer.
Only 5 months to go now. ;)

We've had a provisional of week 21 since we placed the order, and now showing an error code, so VW appear to have no clue when it'll be built.

On verge of cancelling order and looking to convert a transporter to our own spec.

For anyone that has cancelled due to the terribly long and frustrating wait I am planning on selling my 150 t6 beach. We had tried a hire company but have only managed 10 days of hire.
It means we can't afford to keep the van so need to sell.
It was registered Jan 2016.
It has 2 services already paid for.
It's grape yellow, 3 seat bench, light fabric, upgraded 17inch devonports, app connect with larger touch screen, privacy glass, parking sensors, mud flaps, interior light concept, comfort mattress and exterior pack inc fog lights.
If you're interested just send me a message. Will be popping it on the for sale section around August time.
