T7 Spyshots.

Peugeot is dead as well, welcome Stellantis!
Stellantis is soon going to kill off Maserati, Lancia, Chrysler, DS... Absolute mess.

Only thing pulling them forward is Jeep really...Had Jeep been kept by Daimler during their sale, there would have been no more Dodge/Chrysler etc.

Anyways about that T7... Dealers in Germany are not looking forward to selling them.

Entschuldigung, but I am from the homeland and we call the T5.2 with the 2L.

Do Germans also use T6.1 and T6.2 instead of T6 and T6.1?

Not to nitpick, but in other countries they just call it T5 Facelift.

Video for a T5 to T5.1 facelift.

Edit: This is true all over the world except German speaking countries. The oficial Westfalia agency near me imported mine (2014) from Germany to Spain in 2018 and advertised it as a T5.1.

Official release of the T7 Caravelle. Must have been a good payday for Jason.

VW missed a trick plumping for the MV based Cali.
I think they missed the fact that they made a horrible mistake getting tied up with Ford who makes some of the worst vehicles on our roads.

Instead of investing billions euros into their electric vehicles that no one wants to buy they could have made a proper van. Their commercial vehicles WHERE doing well.

Next Crafter will be based on the Transit?

Would be better to just Volkswagonize a Ducato at that point.

I don't expect so, the smart car MK3 is a Renault twingo, the parts are interchangable but Merc charges more than Renault, ford will be cheaper than VW, because VW have to make a profit too!

Interesting. So people can just buy the cheaper Renault parts for their Smart? Wonder if that affects people's choice of servicing provider much.

I service them myself, I've got bigger motorcycle engines. Once out of warranty because the local smart dealer is 100 miles away in any direction

Yes, fully agree...
In my opinion, Volkswagen has completely missed the mark with this "New California".
The new Ford Nugget has considerably more 'Cali-DNA' than the entire 'California Universe' of VW...
Ford can take over the entire VW California scene with its new Nugget. Free of charge...

It's basically the same as the last Nugget. If that one did not appeal, and it did not to many people due to its "different" layout, why would this one "take over the entire VW California scene"?

Cali DNA = Zero.

And the Japanese Aisin automatic gearbox is excellent

Still not clear if it has the wet belt and what mods were made to make it durable. VW were being weirdly coy when asked at the promo event when interrogated by Transporter HQ.

Well, the so-called 'New California' no longer has the same foundation, and as a result, it lacks the character of a true campervan. It has lost much of its charm compared to the previous California. The 'Cali-DNA' is virtually nonexistent. The only thing it shares with its predecessor is the name.

I expect that a lot of people will compare the "new California" with the alternatives available from Ford and other VW Transporter converters (Westfalia, Knaus etc.). when looking to buy a true campervan.

The new Nugget has far more and cleverer storage space than the new Cali and that was always something the Cali was famous for.

They also gave the new Nugget the Cali-like chairs in the boot door as well as retaining a 3 seat bench! The new Cali doesn't even retain the old 2 seat bench - so on balance, the new Nugget does indeed seem more Cali-like and is a FAR worthier beast for a week or two camping, especially if taking children.

The new Cali seems to be catering more for the more affluent weekend campers or festival-goers rather than families as they always did previously. The new Nugget will now take that crown, I'm quite sure. The 330 watts solar roof and hybrid V2L 240v plug option so no EHU needed, is a massive step forwards that the Cali also seems to be missing.

It's a no-contest IMO.
