The Red SOS Button

So, I’ve had the SOS button light up red several times when starting the car. Always rectified by switching off, waiting a short while and restarting. I’ve also had several calls from Citygate VW saying they have noticed a fault (remotely) and have concluded the two are related.
Anyway new occurrence today as the fault came up whilst I was driving back from West Wittering. Fault message came up on dash advising me to visit the VW workshop. This time had the warning in amber shown on the digital cockpit and the LED by the SOS switch was unlit. On reaching home after unloading the van I started it again and as usual the SOS LED lit up green (normal). Anybody else had this whilst on the move?

Van is in for it’s 1st Service later this month and i’ll obviously flag this.

Have you pressed the button to see what happens.

I did in a German S class whilst in the UK and a German
guy answered asking what help I needed. I told him that
we were just testing all of the buttons. :D

Once you have pressed it it cannot be cancelled. Or at least I couldn't .

No I haven’t @westfalia. Might give it a test.

I’m assuming when the status is green all is OK.

i think in general this issue has been sorted out either by software update or better hardware. i dont remember seeing a post about this issue for sometime. ive never had this problem on my van.if its only just happened i would give it a few days before digging deeper these things have a habit of sorting themselves out.

Nothing to do with We Connect Plus subscription is it?
It could be as the renewal is due on 17/3 for the "Plus" part of the subscription. My understanding was that the "standard" We Connect would still work?

I've just been and start up my Cali this morning and the issue has gone! Oh the joys of Cali electronics eh! :)

A software update fixed mine. It's was a issue across the whole VAG group, i.e. multiple brasnds and vehicles. There have been reports of dealers trying to charge silly money to do the software update which doesn't seem fair since it's clearly a result of poor design/testing and affects a mandatory safety feature.
