This week I've bought '________' for my Cali

Just back from NEC...CADAC Safari 2 LP BBQ and associated ‘stuff’’, low wattage toaster and other odds & ends. Good show. Long queues for the ONE Grand California on display. More camping, caravan and camper van paraphernalia on sale than one could possibly imagine existed.

Coming up from the south we were guided to South 5 car park. Twelve minute walk to venue or three minute shuttle bus ride, but with fifteen minute wait for bus..we walked!

Quick whizz into the NEC show atb4 pm.
Joined ASCI for £11.50 and got some great Europe campsite info.
Some purchases too, 2 foldable small trivets to put hot dishes on.
Also a square washing up bucket that fits in the under sink cupboard. The collapsible ones take lots of space so I thought we would try out a normal one and just keep kitchen stuff in it when it's not being used. We have square plates which don't fit in and fall out of our round collapsible bucket....

From Isabella accessories stand in hall 5, got a pack of two cutting boards/trays - large one fits on top of cutlery drawer just right and has rubber underneath so doesn’t slip, also collapsible bowl fits perfectly between front seats

A new non slip folding aluminium step to put by the sliding door. I reversed the van today forgetting my step was next to the door.
Van 1 step 0

Some folding carry boxes from Skoda - saw them in the combined Lookers Skoda and VW Commercial dealer near Guildford. Skoda ones will fit 3 abreast pretty perfectly on the rear shelf but a bit too wide at 35cm x58 long x 30.5 high to fit 3-abreast on the boot floor, but they just fit under the shelf on the lower setting. At gbp14 each from the dealer less the VW Cali Club discount they are cheaper than on Amazon and massively cheaper and bigger than the equivalent VW-branded ones which are about 36quid each!
(In my photo with the box on the bottom it isn’t pushed all the way into the boot- just showing the height)

They're from Rainbow Screens - https://rainbowscreens.co.uk/
They're really good quality and fit perfectly - Darren at Rainbow Screens is very helpful too.

Very Interested in the Rainbow screen. We do not have the Cali yet (pick up on saturday). On the website when ordering, even though you type in California Ocean it still asks for sizes. I am taking it the Pop tops on the Oceans are all the same?

I queried this with Darren at Rainbow Screens and he said that all the pop-ups are slightly different as they are handcut by VW so the windows aren't all the same size. We faffed about quite a lot with getting the measurements right, but are now very pleased with the fit of the pop up cover.

Been adding her name, bought 2 decals (decali ??) and put them on myself.

Bought the silver trim today that goes over the bottom grille. I didn’t opt for the chrome pack as not keen on side chrome trim but like the from grille one.

I’ve been looking for a solution for a rubbish bin for some time. I don’t want a big permanent thing. To date the solution has been a carrier bag hanging from the headrest. This little thing ticks all my boxes. It even has little poppers for carrier bag handles.

Some rag rugs from Ikea -- these are machine washable and can roll up smallish when the seat goes forwards. And they are inexpensive. They go over the Brandrup carpet which I find not very soft and the rails are cold on my feet

Score one all.

Fitted some door wind deflectors but couldnt live with the increased wind noise when closed, rather get wet. So took them off then promptly stood on one so in the bin. Oh well

Set doors to auto lock and unlock with VCDS. Slightly tricky on the newest T6 but sussed it in the end and works great for me.

New toilet and steering lock bought from the club shop great service and good value

Bought some Airtex and got myself some bags tailored for the kitchen window grid (Reimo/Brandrup) and the drivers- and passengerside windows.

The most effective portable knife sharpening system I’ve found. 20 or 25 degree angles. Ceramic sharpening rods of two different grits.

A good whisky should be drunk from a real glass. I found these on Amazon, the glasses are nothing special but they came in a robust carry case so can be thrown around in the van and tucked away in the cupboard. 8BBB0472-E1D1-4717-BC11-9B6BC1AC6DEB.jpeg5A8CCC99-041F-4733-8C8E-85E485762BCF.jpegAAA9FF4B-A272-4AC4-9E60-09BB5C688CD3.jpeg
