Hi
Can anyone give some advise on the best system that they have for tracking their Cali at a reasonable price? Can any club member tell me what I need to do to get hold of a club sticker too?

Cheers

There are lots of different makes of tracker available. We have negotiated a good discount on one called Back2You https://vwcaliforniaclub.com/threads/back2you-trackers.23733/ which does much of what the VW fitted ones do, but there is no monthly subscription. You don't get the monitoring though. You ring the tracker, it responds with a text with a map reference which comes up as a location on Google Maps.

If you put site:vwcaliforniaclub.com trackers into the Google search box you will get a lot of links to different sorts, prices, etc of trackers from the Forum.
This is a very informative thread https://vwcaliforniaclub.com/threads/gps-trackers-some-things-ive-found-researching.14990/

I got one of these from Amazon if you want a very cheap tracker.

It works with an £10 credit O2 sim (3g) and has two modes. Passive when you just need to call it and it will send you a location on google maps The second mode is using data with the free app it then works as a normal tracker. The second requires a data contract per month where the first only works on a cost of a txt each time (2p). It requires charging every 20 -- 30 days. I keep mine in the safe. REad the instructions but also look up the youtube video which is better. Easy to set up in the txt mode. (Or even cheaper is if you have an old PAYG phone you could just use this with a data contract)
