My wife’s grandfather fought with the Free Polish Forces and was wounded at the Battle of Monte Cassino. Prior to that he was a prisoner in a Russian Labour Camp in Siberia, departed there on foot to Iran where he joined the Free Forces, trained in the UK and then onto Europe as did many Poles. A good excuse to raise a glass of Vodka in their memory! My mother in law was born in a refugee camp in Newton Abbot and my son is named after his Great - Grandfather. Didn’t think we’d see such times again albeit on a smaller scale. On a lighter note - it looks stunning there and the van looks great!
