Hi, this is my first post here so please be kind :)
I have a 2017 204 VW Ocean T6 (with a roof solar panel) and have a couple of issues with it that started at the same time but may also be unrelated. I've had a search here and i cant find any posts which seem to fit the exact same problem and i'm not sure of a garage who deal with electrical issues to take it to (Im in North East London).
One day when we hadn't driven the van for a few weeks the control panel flashed up with a voltage plausibility fault and the electrics wouldnt charge from driving, at the same time the cabin filled up with petrol smell on start up. May be a total coincidence!?
Since then, the error message doesn't come up but the control panel is either totally blank or very very faint.
Does anyone have an idea of a solution (change the leisure batteries? or could it be a solar panel fault?) or can recommend an auto-electrician in my area?
Thanks.

Check Control Panel Diagnostics.

Control Panel Off, L lower Button, and wait 30 secs

Control Panel On, L lower Button.

Press and Hold R lower button and then press Control Knob for 5 secs.

New Hidden Menu . Scroll to VW Diagnostics.

If there are any codes shown, take note and then Reset/Clear, by pressing Control Knob.

Return to Main Menu.

Switch Off Control Panel using L lower button. Wait 30 secs and Switch On.

Any change?

Any Diagnostic Codes shown?

- If nothing has changed on the vehicle, then I would suggest the leisure batteries might have reached the end of their life. We have a 2017 and the batteries are still good, but the van is in constant use. The Voltage Plausibility fault happens for a few reasons, but defective leisure batteries is the most likely cause if nothing else has been altered since it was working. I would get see if a garage can do a battery test or put a voltmeter on them.

In terms of a Petrol smell, I am not sure about Petrol versions of the Ocean. But on our Diesel version there is an engine fuel fired heater that kicks in on start-up at around 5 degrees c or lower and it tends to have a bad diesel smell for the first 4-5 mins as it starts up, the little exhaust comes out of the front and doesn't use the vehicle exhaust. (Note this is another fuel heater for the engine and is separate from the one in the van that you set on the control panel) - ours has certainly come on a number of times in the last 4 weeks.
