Thanks for the clarification Alex.smgcowfold said:Any VW Van Centre can process these claims. They do not need to have a body shop either. The process takes about 20 minutes once the photos have been taken. There are pre-made forms for this supplied by VW and the information for each individual has to be entered and then sent off with the repair request to VW in the usual way. The pop-up roof claim would have to be built up from scratch and takes probably an extra five minutes at most if not done before by a dealer.
We have been doing paint warranty claims for the last few years and don't have a body shop so if any van centre tells you that they cannot process a claim then they are incorrect.
cheers

Dunc said:Hmmmm, so they are just respraying the roof without identifying the problem.
Déjà vu ?
A body shop I spoke to said the corrosion is typical of a seal that collects water and insufficient paint depth on the edge. I totally anticipate this issue to reoccur, its just a question of how quickly...6 months or 6 years...Dunc said:Hmmmm, so they are just respraying the roof without identifying the problem.

I logged my roof fault in January & have not been given date so I would not worry about it. The repair will get done in due course.vedubya said:Still no news. Called VW today, despite logging my claim 6 weeks ago they
a) cannot give me a time line for its repair
b) have not allocated my Cali to a body shop repairer
c) cannot give an estimate of when I can expect a call.
I appreciate its a big job, 2 weeks some are saying. But VW chose to train only a handful of repairers, I think the quality of customer service from VW regarding this issue is below par and falls short of expectations for a product costing circa 40k
