I have just received the following email (in red) from my contact at VW HQ regarding the launch of the T6 California in the UK.

It is good that VW appreciate the Forum’s importance enough to give us the heads up.

A Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle spokesperson has confirmed that the current anticipated/planned dates for the launch activities for the new California range into the UK are:

  • Publication of specification and pricing for the range will be 23rd July
  • Vehicles are anticipated to be available to order from an Authorised Volkswagen Van Centre from mid-August, with the first deliveries taking place before the end of this year
  • The UK California range will feature
- 2 models, the Beach and the Ocean
- 3 diesel engines, all Euro 6
102 PS available on Beach
150 PS available on both models
204 PS available on the Ocean model
- No decision has been taken on introducing a petrol but this is under consideration for the future

I've got by pen out and ready to order!!

Only issue is I doubt there will be any discounts. Dealers are going to make huge profits for a while if they can get away without discounting due to demand.

Any they clean up even more if they can sell finance packages as well.

Looking forward to tomorrow and hopefully finding out what the UK will get, in terms of specification!

I have to admit, I had my heart set on a 204PS Beach with DSG but I'd be happy with 150PS and I can easily spend the 'saving' on other spec. Hope DSG is available from day one.
I really wanted xenons, having gotten used to them on my car, but they don't feature on the German configurator at all; it's either halogen or very expensive LED headlights. Annoying because the German pricing suggests that they will want over £1,000 for them, while they're standard on quite a few models in the Golf or Seat Leon range!?

Anyway, exciting times!

From what I can work out there has not been much of a price increase, however I doubt if we will be seeing any 10% discounts like we have seen in the past for a while

I said 4% and I think I was pretty close.

Lets say the list price for the standard car is about what I paid for mine with 6k 7.5k of extras.

Just spoke to Drive the Deal and they have no plans for the Transporter to be added let alone the Cali, looks like the first people to order will be paying list price.

Just spoken to VW, they said there had been a hic up in getting the T6 deatails onto the VW website, but they should be on it by the end of today. If not I'll speak to them again tomorrow.

PRESS RELEASE TODAY!
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has announced pricing for the latest generation California, ahead of UK dealers starting to take orders for the new campervan from 3 August and first deliveries before the end of the year. Prices start at £37,657 (RRP OTR inc VAT) for the Beach model. Continuing a campervan tradition which spans more than 60 years, the Volkswagen California is the only vehicle in its class to be designed, engineered and built in-house.
The new California is available in two trim levels – Beach and Ocean – and with a choice of three 2.0-litre engines ranging in power from 102 to 204 PS. All are EU6 compliant and feature BlueMotion Technology modifications to give fuel consumption and emissions figures which have been lowered by up to 15 per cent. A 4MOTION four-wheel drive version is also offered in conjunction with the 150 PS or range-topping 204 PS powerplant.
Entry to the California range starts with the Beach model which offers up to seven seats and sleeping space for four. The bench-seat easily folds to convert to a two-berth bed across the width of the vehicle, while a manual pop-up roof gives access to a further double bed. A fold-out table and chairs are cleverly stored in the sliding door and tailgate, while an integrated awning makes for a comfortable and practical camping experience. The Beach is available with a 2.0-litre 102 PS TDI engine with a five-speed manual gearbox, and a 2.0-litre TDI 150 PS with a six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG transmission.
The California Ocean replaces the SE model from the previous generation, with prices starting from £47,840 (RRP OTR inc VAT). Customers can choose from two engines with either 150 or 204 PS and six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG gearboxes. 4MOTION four-wheel drive variants mean the ultimate ‘home from home’ can go further and wider afield. The Ocean also adds an electro-hydraulic pop-up roof with lighting, plus a kitchenette with two rings, a fridge and sink.
The new generation California adds a host of safety, comfort and convenience features. These include a Driver Alert System, Brake Assist and an Automatic Post-Collision Braking System, as well as the option to add innovations such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Front Assist and City Emergency Braking for safer and more relaxed cruising. In the cabin the California gains a new ‘premium’ dashboard (optional on Beach) with wide centre console and car-like feel, plus the latest infotainment system, DAB digital radio, Bluetooth and new multi-function display. A new cupholder as well as new fabrics, leathers and plastics enhance the ambience inside.
For more information or to register your interest in the new California, please visit your local Authorised Van Centre or go to www.volkswagen-vans.co.uk.

Spent some time last night bringing the German Beach standard equipment upto the level of the UK Beach standard equipment; we get about €4k of 'extras' as standard, bringing the European price to €52,285 for the 150PS DSG, compared to £41,515 OTR. Not an awesome exchange rate but not awful either.

After adding the options which I would like, mine came to €62k, so I think I'll let the dust settle on new orders before I try and negotiate a discount for my spec in the UK!

Exciting times though; Cali ownership is in sight for me!

I'll be replacing my 04 Caravelle with 235k on the clock this summer, and had my heart set on a Tourneo Custom (we run 20 Transits in work and really impressed with the Custom), but the Beach seems to have everything as standard that I'd have to get added by a coachbuilder to the Tourneo. If the T6 rides better than the T5 then I would really consider it. Have the prices, specifications, and costings of the optional extras been made available (other than the brief VW statement posted by David Eccles).

Not yet. Be some time in the next week, I would assume, if they're opening the order books on August 3rd.

Diolch Rhyddin, you should be working for the VW Press & PR Dept! I had signed up on their site to be updated but this site is far better at distributing the information.

I like the look for the Beach with DSG and 4Motion, just hope they pack as much on as standard as I guess the rpice of this would be quite high. I'd like it with the nice looking LED's (I've added these to my Caravelle) and Xenon lights which I've got on my car. I guess the matress for the seats will be an extra, as would the extra battery.

No 4motion for the UK Beach, I'm afraid. There is a higher spec here than Europe but those LEDs are not going to be cheap! 2 batteries is standard though. Open the link shared by JRPLEX, above.

That's great Rhyddin, I had missed that. I would intend keeping the Caravelle replacement for a similar length of time as the existing one and would have liked the 4Motion. Wonder why they can't see that families using it as an MPV would like that capability, I regularly used to travel to the Alps in mine and had to use snow chains on the slippery bits, rather than having the easier option of 4 × 4.

any one know if there will be a two tone colour version ?

I hope not, they look hideous. Like a 1980's Ford Escort thats had a bottom half respray to hide the badly welded sills and rotten door bottoms!
But each to their own.

Not of any interest to anybody on here I suppose but why does the T6 transporter/kombi only get the eu5 140/180 engines rather than the eu6 150/204 options? And are they the same engines as the current ones we have now?
Am looking at changing my transporter soon and am confused!

Sent from my Galaxy S6

maybe something to do with being a people carrier requires euro 6?
