Just had this email from Volkswagen, it may be of interest to anyone who uses service...

Hello ********, We have provided the mobile online service We Connect Go for several years. For commercial reasons, we have now decided to discontinue We Connect Go as of 31 December 2024. We regret that you will no longer be able to use the functions and your backed up data online from that point on. We take the protection of your personal data very seriously. Your backed up data online will be automatically deleted immediately once the service is discontinued. You do not need to take any further action. You will also find the stated information in your We Connect Go app. We would be delighted for you to use our other online services in future. More information can be found on our website.

We had We Connect disabled in November - no option but to transition to the VW app, which appears to work just the same.
