Hey everyone!

I plan to fit a solar panel on my Beach and was wondering what the weight limit is for putting something on the poptop. I already have a panel at home that I can use, but it weighs 16 kg, and I'm afraid it's too heavy.

What do you think, is this one ok or should I buy a new one?

Thanks for the help! :D

50 kgm.

You may, weight wise, put 3 such solar panels on the roof.

The roof can take approx 50kgs when closed, but you won’t physically be able to lift the roof with 50kgs of weight, and the factory struts will not be strong enough to hold the roof up.

You can fit updated roof struts with a higher 600 NM force on a Beach to solve the issue, available from Hinscha, they are very balanced and still allow you open the roof if the panels are removed.

..
Item number : 8.96.311
Force (Newton (N)) : 600
Bracket piston rod : Ball- and socket joint
Bracket pressure tube : Ball- and socket joint
Brand : Hinscha
Reference : T5/T6 California 600N
A - Length (mm) : 956
E - Ø piston rod (mm) : 10
G - Ø pressure tube (mm) : 23
K - Stroke (mm) : 440

But would instead suggest investing in lightweight panels from @Roger Donoghue. The standard Beach roof will lift fine with 3 of his panels fitted.
