What have you bought for your Cali today :-)

Perhaps not sensible to be shopping for kettles with the new van still 4mths away at least. I currently use a very battered alu Trangia kettle but despite being full of memories (can a kettle do that? lol) I think a new van deserves a new one.

Really like these but at 24cm dia. they're probably too big and a pain to store.

That is enormous! We need a separate kettle thread! :thumb

Toasty, double width, down duvet for the downstairs bed that packs away to nothing. (Loose stuff sack in photo, rather than the compressed size).

Have you had the chance to try the quilt yet? I’m interested to know if it as warm as you would have hoped/ex-extend for the price?

Unfortunately not yet. It says minus 6, but when you read the label that is very much the lowest temperature. I think it will be fine downstairs but perhaps not in the draughty upstairs. Hopefully try it out February half-term.

Cracking set of mats for the main floor from Car Mats UK. They don't have much in stock but if you mail them they will make more or less what you want to order from the site in any colour they have. These are the half mats that can sit on top of each other when the seat fully forward.

Just installed 2 x Renogy 100ah LifePo4 batteries as they're currently £589 each for the self-heating ones for all weather. They're also doing the standard 100Ah without heating for only £499!
now on day 3 and power worries have vanished. utterly amazing change

Keep us posted on how many days you get, I use to get 4 days off grid with my old Cali with standard bats so interested in what you can get now.
Toying with fitting LifePo4 for my new joker.

Jersey downstairs & Nicki upstairs - all I could find in stock so got them whilst I could.

Also rear bench seat cover found one of those but can't get fronts anywhere, although I understand that the T6.1 fit so may have to keep my old ones for a bit.

Cool Plug and Play or did you have to make any other changes?

No other charger changes are necessary as they have extremely high grade battery management systems on board with safety for all manner of scenarios. I have a 2017 Ocean which had the LA80 AGM 80Ah batteries on board and I did a straight swap of the integrated split charger to a Victron 12-12-30 DC-DC charger so they charge up a little quicker when I drive (I'm a full time vanlifer) bit the VW split charger and EHU charger are absolutely fine with these.
Mine are topped up with 3 x 100W solar panels throughout the day too, as a personal choice, to enable the 100% off-grid at all times use I have.
The batteries do not have the big pillar connectors, instead they have an M8 sized bolt which is much easier to work with but will mean the van pillar connectors wont fit. You will need to buy some short connector cables for the bolts and a way of insulating the post connectors on the van.
This sounds like a headache but it truly isn't. plenty of space in both locations to do this and is straight forward. don't let this dissuade if you're looking for a worry free power supply.

I'm on day 4 from a full charge of both batteries on the integrated, VW factory fitted EHU which took them both to 100% safely, and I had 60% remaining with fridge on level 5 at all times, diesel factory fitted heater on overnight each night, 2 hours use of projector each day, phone charged every day, vacuum charged once, VR headset for 4 hours, headphones charged twice, laptop used periodically. Solar keeps them topped up a little though so perhaps remove another theoretical 20% for the winter trickle they provide.
I've now relocated via a 1.5 hour drive and they fully recharged to 100% each.
I too would get roughly 3 to 4 days with the AGMs but these things are astounding and they charge back up very quickly because of very low resistance. The integrated BMS ensures they don't charge too quickly and my Victron ensures it maxes out at 30A etc. With this use I am estimating, with winter solar top up, that it could last around 10 to 12 days. Spring/summer/autumn could see indefinite moderate use I feel.

First batch of bits to fit out the new van.View attachment 88536
Andy, well worth it have fun working out the bungee fittings. Worth looking on the Brandrup website as it shows a picture of them fitted to the 600. Also might be worth considering getting a second set because if you decide later on there might not be many around.

Also you might wanna consider the VW OEM carpet for winter it’s actually really very well made.

I had to laugh in the video. Who sleeps that close to their other half…?
Looks a nice bag. I urge people to invest in a decent sleeping bag for the van. Removed the need for external roof toppers
Nice link :thumb

Very true. I bought a down quilt from UGQ Outdoor. Sort of a hybrid design that opens flat like a quilt or partially closed and/or part of a sleep system. I'm not a fan of the restrictive cocoon type bags so this is a nice compromise.

Ive got that coming with the van from the dealer, but bought the Brandrup carpet for the boot area. I've always found that the more carpet the better if you want to quieten a van down.
