Which insurance I should pick?

sorry to dissent but just been through no fault accident with them and they have been close to useless, had to go to 3rd party insurer to organise my own replacement vehicle, communication is very slow

That’s disappointing.
However, their cover specifically for the California, covers a lot more than other insurance companies.

You can only measure the usefulness of an insurance company at the point of cover and claim.
Does it cover all requirements and am I prepared to put up with a headache in the unfortunate circumstance I need to make a claim...???
At the moment it’s Comfort...

HI AB,

Sorry to hear that

Is does the poor communication have anything to do with the CV19 situation since March do you think ? Or do you think it’s just poor service generally?

Hi there
I don’t think it was anything to do with the recent circumstances, all they had to do is engage with the Legal Cover people, which is part of the cover sold, but there was no urgency whatsoever. I could get through to them but there was very little action resulting from my calls

Hullo there
That’s what I thought when I went with them but as you rightly say you can only measure their worth when things go wrong, and they did not do very well in my case. It would be interesting to hear from other people insured with them...maybe I was just unlucky..? Still very doubtful I will stick with them next year

We are with Admiral multi car policy.. Our California and Mini Cooper was £350 for the 2 with £50 back when Covid took hold and nobody was using their vehicles. Couldn’t really say how good they are in a crisis as I’ve never claimed, yet.....And hopefully will never have to.

I had/have had a massive claim with Comfort, Aviva were spot on and DasLaw are great with personal injury. I know peeps who got no quibble new for old replacements following the floods earlier this year, sorted within days. Needless to say when the van arrives who I am going with. I'm beginning to sound like a rep for them I will stop.

Hi, it’s time to buy insurance for my new California ocean, may I ask which insurance I should pick: car, van or some special campervan insurance?
Thank you so much.

I have my t5 Cali insured with Aviva Direct. Can’t complain. Less than £200 for the year with European recovery.

I’d recommend that to anyone

I have a grand California and use the caravan and motorhome club insurance.

Careful if you do claim - even an enquiry relating to a no fault claim followed by quote that I didn’t take up doubled the premium on renewal. Had to spend ages arguing the point

I insured with Comfort, you don’t have to have a tracker. They say you have to have:

Cat1 Alarm /Imobiliser (which the Cali has as standard)
OR
for vehicles without the above a Cat5 or 6 tracker.
Comfort told me yesterday 19/11 need tracker if list plus extras exceeded 75k. Neet s5,6 or 7 tracker

I am looking for insurance for our California T6.1 and Fiat 500 (multi vehicle) contacted LV and had a quote of £383.82 for both, comprehensive cover, looking at the quotation, £300 excess (includes £200 voluntary) + £39 to protect NCD, mileage of 5,000 miles for the VW, Tracker and Ghost immobiliser are already fitted on VW (tracker requested by previous insurance company - T6.1 value when bought new was over £71K) includes £10,000 personal accident cover. Previous quote form Admiral was £843, after calling them reduced to £669.62 (reduced the mileage on the cars). Did have a couple of large claims with Admiral previous insurance (unfortunate fire - long story, and lockdown vandalism both on the Fiat)!

Anything else I need to look for on the policy, only had our California 2x months so want to ensure we have good insurance for next year?

How much has everyone been quoted by Comfort ? I just got a quote of £650 which seems a bit steep, I've no previous claims or anything unusual that would hike the premium up I don't think.

My quote was £370 parking on driveway

They refused to give me a quote and suggested I “try one of our competitors”. It was like that scene in Mean Girls where the shop assistant tells Regina “you could try Sears”.

I havent insured a vehicle since 2004, and they quoted me and my girlfriend £640.
My Dad has just insured his Nissan camper with Caravan Guard in Halifax. They use Royal Sun Alliance and almost halved last years premium so I’ll ask them for a quote too. LV and AIB also worth ringing for a quote

That’s very steep, our quote is £401

AIB gave me a good quote.
Safeguard include European Breakdown-recovery if you don't have a warranty.

Crikes thought it seemed high, I've not had any accidents or claims it will be on the drive and we live in rural Cheshire. There must be a lot of claims around here!

I use Admiral Multicar includes full business use, gave up with specialist insurers after one wanted evidence of me being on the deeds for our shared car park,

Do Admiral cover for the camping side ?

I recently insured our 2019 plate ocean with comfort, I used the club discount code and found them really competitive and helpful . Our quote was £260 . It will of course depend on mileage, postcode and previous claims but I was really pleased with their cover and price. Hope that helps. Elaine was the lady who advised me at comfort
