Fancy number plates - a yes or no?

Passed a Cali on the M3 at the weekend CA11 FUN. I thought that was a good plate.

C4LIF wouldn't be valid as you can't have a "I" in the three letter bit :-(

ORN14 would be pretty abstract without the C4LIF parked next to it :-D

My surname is GODSON, so I always wanted GOD50N - however you are not allowed GOD plates in the UK.

The DVLA ruin all of our fun...

Some years ago we use to regularly see a local gent driving a car with the registration UPLlF. His car was a Bristol !

I'm still in the "I'm only doing it for the van" camp of acceptance concerning private plates, but on that basis have just bought

for my new Ocean.

I know many hate them, but if you fancy something similar, the following were on my shortlist

VW57EEP is an attempt to get close to the VW51EEP that VW own
I thought VW04 HOL was a great plate for a hire van.

I have T600VWC. Easy to remember too .

No.

Well it's each to their own but for me at least, my view is why would I want to pay for a series of letters and numbers that probably only mean something to me and often then only in a contrived manner i.e my initials followed by my dogs age in doggy years followed by the his name. (BTW I don't have a dog).

Also, if I were to purchase my new number from the DVLA, IMO it merely amounts to a volutary indirect tax contibution followed by further contributions each time you transfer it to a new car.

However, on the other hand you quite often see personalised plates on commercial vehicles such as skip lorries. I suspect that this is purely a tax avoidance measure?

Anyway, as I say, it's each to their own.

It’s personalised to the Cali so will not be moved.

Anyway I bought the number cheap before the T6’s came out and then I had to buy a Cali to put it on

One POSSIBLE advantage is that they can make your Cali look older, and may therefore deter dumb thieves who haven't done their homework. It clearly won't deter those approaching professional level.

It costs a tenner extra if you want to choose a certain letter and number combo over here.

Although ´Es ist verboten´ to have SS and some others that could be ´code´letters.

Managed to get P3 OCN for £250. I though it looked rather smart. There are plenty of OCN suffixes available on the DVLA and pretty reasonably priced.
