Hello all,

I've just ordered my California Ocean after coming into a one-off lump sum and wanting to spend it on something that my 2 and 6 year old's might be able to cherish with me. And, maybe it was them that convinced me to buy it...

This forum has been an invaluable source of information during the 6 month faffing about process, which is all part of the fun really. So, thanks.

I'm a London dweller and diesel is a dirty word round here at the moment so I hope to have future-proofed as far as possible and gone for the TSI, but who knows what the future holds fuel-wise. Insurance-wise it's a killer and only Safeguard is interested.

My final spec is:

TSI 204 DSG Starlight blue metallic
2 USB interfaces and AUX in
4 remote control keys
Awning rail and housing in black
Cupboard dark wood with outdoor shower
Comfort sleeping mattress
Interior light comfort plus
Magnetic flashlight
Privacy glass with heat insulation
Front and rear parking sensor and camera
Tow bar prep
Bike rack
Rear bumper protection
Composition media radio with 6.33 touch screen
Side scan
Active cruise control (this is not listed on the configurator for TSI, but it is available via the dealer).
App connect (a lot of deliberation on this, but I can't shake the feeling that built in sat navs are not ageing well and it will be about plugging in the ever-updated smartphone in future)

SMG Tonbridge has been very helpful so far and I would recommend it at this point - very knowledgeable and honest in pointing out where the value for money lies with the extras. I'm hoping for a delivery around early February, to test out that parking heater!

Don’t rush to buy the camping bits apart from the essentials and spend the dark months planning your adventures.

Congrats, we ordered our new bus today too!

Wow - another two new ones in the order books.

I bet VW are pleased with themselves for October - a lot of us doing a mad dash before the price rises in November.

Sounds great. Did they give you a build week?

Ours has got a few production restrictions putting it back a bit.

The MFSW(the one with paddles) and the wheels. I'm hoping to get more of an update next week.

Ditto.
Had a fantastic experience so far.

Thanks for the suggestions and support. I've no update on the build 3 weeks after ordering, but the order must be in the system somewhere as VW is bombarding me with customer satisfaction surveys. I will update on order progress. The dealer expected a spike in orders before the price rise, and they were expecting 9 other Calis to be ordered that very week.

Have you given SMG a call to see f they can give you an order number or are you just waiting?
I have found the service there to be a perfect blend between 'No push during sales to no slouch in providing answers'. That said, once my order was in my salesman did take a little longer to get back to me with a couple of queries but no major delays. I guess his priority simply had to change like it or not. To land the next fish you can't sit and tend to the one thats in the keep net.
Do keep nets still exist??? I haven't been fishing since the 80's and people had started to frown on them.
