Sorning your Cali in the current climate

Correct, you can find isolation in lots of places particularly early or late in the day.
I’m currently finding isolation in my house with my missus nelly the dog and our 5 year old who has a cold which has morphed in a cough. Not allowed to go to school now.advised by work (both of us mrs gas works on a Tuesday) that we now need to self isolate for 14 days.

So far cut the grass pulled some weeds fielded loads of calls from work mates telling me how lucky I am to have 2 weeks off but currently not feeling that feeling. Oh and Dylis the bus is in the shop having a light repaired on the kitchen unit so can’t get out to the forest for a walk away from the general population

Hi all.

As it looks like we are heading towards non essential travel measures, I am now thinking of sorning our Cali at the end of the month as it is not one of our daily drivers and it looks like we wont be able to use it for leisure. Our other cars have a zero or exempt tax rates so no point in sorning them. Is anyone else thinking they might do the same. I suppose the question will be what the restrictions will be and how long they stay in place.

K

But don’t you just enjoy driving it? Go for a cruise once in a while. In fact, since this awful period has started we’ve gone out for picnics in the Cali, including today, just to get out of the house for half an hour but avoiding cafes etc.

Knowing my luck I'd end up on top of one of those extra long pole vaulting poles with my vertigo.
Ohhhhhhh vertigo don’t go there,,,,
just had a bout myself :(
Loose eyes in my head when walking sent me green the worst feeling .....not your standard vertigo apparently.
Betahistine did the trick!!!!!

Balvenie does it for me. Cause, and cure.

Isn't the advice on non-essential travel referring to public transport, due to the risk of infection transmission on buses, trains and planes? Driving in a Cali isn't in itself going to increase the transmission, it just depends on what you do if you get out. Looking at the Caravan and Motorhome Club website, their campsites are still one, so I have been wondering if it is an issue to go to one. The main risk would be infection transmission in the wash areas and kitchens.

You'll probably have them all to yourself as the great whites use their own facilities. Just more rumbling of water and waste carriers.

No big deal to sorn . Takes literally minutes on the dvla website to tax again .

We have some of the most beautiful coastline and countryside in this country.

We will certainly be using our Cali to get out and about during this period.

Long walks and time away is what it is all about....a bit of fresh air and exercise thrown in too!

Just be sensible around any crowds.

Take your own food and be prepared to not use public facilities too often.
For sure! Am I missing something? Isnt the Cali the perfect peach for self isolation? Nice drive, nice walk somewhere remote, spot of lunch? Just dont let anyone in there to admire the fabulousness of it!

Tend to agree, so long as it’s within reach of home should you come down with the sweats. The big concern seems to be people travelling to rural areas then becoming ill and overwhelming the local NHS. I was thinking of camping in the hospital car park just in case, but on second thoughts, that’s more expensive than a campsite!

We picked up our Cali in January and are yet to go away for an overnight in her , now that’s looking like it may be off the cards for a while myself and our 5 year old will be camping on the drive this evening to say he’s excited is an understatement. I’m not sure if that is just from the thought of overnighting in dhylis or the fact we’re on day 5 of isolation due to him having a cough and now passing that on to mrs gas.

Confess when I got mine I slept on the drive and a couple of summers back we slept in a tent in the garden. Big kids!

Surely we are the lucky ones. We have the ability to use our vans to help our sanity.
Essential travel has yet to be defined and won’t be until areas are locked down.
I’ve been reliably informed that lock down will be each town and it’s immediate area. Police and/or military will be at all roads to prevent vehicle movement. EG the Poole area into say Bournemouth area. They will also have the powers to stop to routine check in those areas if your journey is necessary. Also to stop pedestrians for the same reason. The reality is, that
Unless the government chooses to re- employ the 50,000 + retired Police as suggested by Lord Stevens (Ex Met Commissioner) Other than perimeter securing, it is impossible to Police.
If we all apply the social distancing rules, using our beloved Cali’s to find a change of scenery, should be fine.
So no need to Sorn!!!!

Make sure you have a full tank of fuel as it’s being reported that the virus is being passed on by fuel pump handles wear some disposable gloves then bin them

Who's "reliably informing" you of such plans?
