The government has made it qute clear that mosques, churches, massage parlours and other places of worship are closed.

Last weekend a photo of the A55 jam packed with cars, motor homes and caravans was widely circulated with the title tourist horde heads for north Wales to escape Coronavirus. People went nuts about it, except the photo was taken on good Friday last year.

To convince me that's not an archive photo, I'd need to see someone (not superimposed) reading today's newspaper. Unbelievable as you may find this, some people will use any excuse to stir up racial hatred.

I don’t understand the rationale behind closing public toilets, or why the Royal Parks have issued the lawful instruction that dogs must be kept on leads. But the restrictions all appear lawful. I’m particularly pleased that the instruction not to cycle in Richmond Park does not apply to under 12s, and I wish the government would apply this sensible exception to cycling on the footway.

My observation to you was about the role of the police. You appear to believe that there job is to just implement the law.

I’m not really interested in the rights of cycling in London Parks. Common sense I would have thought and not requiring laws.

Been done before. It’s a water filled former quarry and also has toxic levels of some chemical compounds.

Apparently not where I live. The Police have blocked the only access road to Butts Brow, Eastbourne with a ‘Police accident’ sign. So even local people have no access to exercise. And no there was no accident. Sign is still there today.

Only if the journey wasn't necessary - can't see it being the case .... plus only were the time spent outside was minimised ... can't see it being the case either in most cases were the Police intervene - both these requirements are in the current guidelines... so the police are simply enforcing the guidelines .

Plus the Government is now talking about a tightening up of the rules if people don't stay at home and minimise unnecessary travel / time away from the home.

The article in the Sunday Times is potentially very misleading or at least the headline and sentiment is (unfortunately I can't access the full article). Why because Dye is added to the stunning blue water every summer to deter swimmers, as the water has a pH almost as strong as bleach and the water can cause skin complaints. Around 750 local people, concerned about the health risks prior to Corona, signed a petition to have the quarry drained and closed off. However the water was deemed too toxic to drain, as it would risk contaminating local water supplies.

Maybe they should have left them to it !

I have police in my family (raising some eyebrows at some of the interpretation of the guidelines currently, but it is difficult for them)... they pointed me to this ministerial guidance on kids cycling on pavements, supported and circulated to forces by ACPO (Assoc. of Chief Police Officers):

“Chief police officers, who are responsible for enforcement, acknowledge that many cyclists, particularly children and young people, are afraid to cycle on the road, sensitivity and careful use of police discretion is required.”

I can’t imagine any penalty being applied to a child (or accompanying adult) cycling considerately on a pavement; I would just do it.

Public toilets are a breeding ground for germs for obvious reasons. Would you like to risk you life cleaning after god knows who has been in there doing their business but also coughed or spit in an enclosed space. Also a deterrent to anyone wanting to go out for a long time who may not have a large bladder.
