I just hooked the carrier on the door, marked around the attachments where they touched, with a dry board marker. Then removed the carrier and stuck ‘em on. Perfect match.

As above!!!
sit it on ...
make sure alls straight level with the rear swage line and mark it up with a dry marker or pencil.
Remove put protector on and re fit

Commonly known as a whiteboard marker. Easily wiped after it’s done the job.

I've made my own and attached then to the rack rather than the California's bodywork. You can buy heavy adhesive tape in sheets on eBay for a lot less money and you don't need to be clear as the vehicle ones are
