Schengen travel post-Brexit

Basically because the Airlines don't intend to start passenger flights until mid-June or later.

Easyjet June15, Ryanair 40% in July, BA in July.
But i thought it was for all incoming people, they said ports and airports.

It is also a bit like shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted. However, I can understand a 14 day quarantine for anyone who has visited certain countries where coronavirus is raging, such as Brazil, within the past 14 days.
Eggs actly :).
If i travelled there now it would be okay but next month it won't ?

Ferries are taking commercial traffic and returning to home citizens In small numbers.
Likewise airports. Mainly commercial , returning home passengers and very few others.
The risk from the small number of passengers are minimal at present, but when the airlines start flying and passenger numbers increase then the risk increases and that’s when quarantine is effective.
Also, quarantining of passengers from certain countries/areas has been ongoing since first introduced for passengers from Wuhan so I’m led to believe.

If you could travel.

But then, there are some on the Forum who know so much more than I do so I’ll leave it to them to pontificate.

Thats why then. :thumb

Much will depend on whether the country people are flying in from has higher infection rates than the UK. If the other country has lower rates, we could suppose that we'd be exporting more cases than importing. Of course, that assumes zero people infected on the plane, and if O'Leary is typical of airline management, airlines will do little to mitigate that possibility.

Ok, I am a humble man, and accept my faults. If they would like to step forward and tell me that their feelings were hurt by my comments, and I left them sore and upset, I will personally apologise to them. Can't ask more than that?

Who is going to fly to the UK to do business if they face a 2 week quarantine first? Who is going to leave the UK to do business if they face a 2 week quarantine on their return, who is going to go on vacation abroad if they face a 2 week quarantine on their return, who is going to fly to the UK for a vacation if they have to face a 2 week quarantine on arrival.

Priti Patel has just destroyed our airlines, businesses, investors and people in one move.

This is worth it if this virus is at risk of going rampant and killing huge numbers of healthy people. But let's be certain that that is the case - the stats don't entirely support that.

Except that's not actually true. For example BA and Wizz air have been flying to my local airport, Lisbon, for a while.

Where I am we have virtually no corona. In the UK you have loads. We are not quarantining Brits coming here (we should be) why is the UK quarantining Portuguese who have an R close to 0.

This is politics.

Ferry? Eurotunnel? Flights still arriving Today? More nonsense.
Check out Vienna Airport, arrive, test then go if clear.

currently no checks on any arrivals from anywhere, its a nonsense and we know it, the illusion of action after inaction. No Checks from ROI, truck drivers, fruit pickers!

Intriguingly more folks seem to be upset about my suggestion of scones with peanut butter and Marmite than me calling anyone a something rude for being a b___tw___t. interesting little storm in a teacup.

Would it be more acceptable if it were Crunchy?

I live in north east Scotland (as do other members). Many neighbours travel overseas on/off for work on a regular basis in the oil & gas industry.
One was delayed coming home from west Africa for 3 weeks during lockdown - no advice at that stage to quarantine - but his wife (both adult kids recently moved out to live with partners) suggested he self isolated at home... hard work for two of them...
I have another neighbour whose hubby works in Egypt. His back to back was stuck there for 10 weeks (7 weeks longer than normal) whilst flights were sorted. Very lonely times for the family of his back to back... Now he’s out there. So when he comes home, do the whole house isolate? Or just him? They have children who (from my own experience) simply do not understand “please keep away” at the age of 6 and 9... for younger children it would be even harder... And the mother is deemed a critical worker so could be in work (although chosen to work from home at the moment)...
Again, another neighbour‘s husband is away 4/4 weeks in Kazakstan... family here are vulnerable adults.
I have not yet seen how quarantine affects oil industry workers.
This is quite complicated and no one solution fits all.

And who has been taking those flights back to the UK? Tourists? or UK residents returning to UK?

Fairly obvious, the individual isolates and if he wishes to put his family at risk by isolating with them in the same household, then the whole family self isolates for 14 days or 14 days from the last household member testing positive or getting symptoms. The choice is the individuals.
It's not rocket science although some seem to believe it is. Their choice.

Like I said, armchair warriors who believe they know best and always in hindsight .

How many of the 400+ cruise passengers repatriated to the UK from Cruise Liners, with infection on board ,actually had the virus during quarantine?

I agree. But I’m wondering what will happen in practice as this hasn’t been (as far as I have seen) written in any guidelines.

Probably those who have multiple homes and enjoy travelling between them.

And there are no shortage of those in Iberia. It’s quite straight forward. You show your UK passport on return to UK and your residence permit when hopping to Spain for the weekend. Freedom of movement is a wonderful thing.

Why does it have to be written in black and white. Common sense should prevail.

If you look around, there are still too much people without common sense.
If all people would take this serious, and follow the common sense, then there would be less problems, but a lot of people think they are invulnerable and keep getting together, getting too close to another without protection.

Even before C19, I tried to keep away from people as much as I can, but most don't.

A bit of an anomaly that. Allowed to travel to an alternative address overseas, but not one in the UK - unless you are Dominic Cummings.

Don’t forget, we are all in this together, unless you have ‘connections ‘
