Help -Cannot Decide!! (Coast, Ocean, Marco Polo or Nugget)

OH ! But I thought the heating could be turned on through the night etc!:headbang

The heating is entirely separate to the Climatronic system and can be used anytime. It is actually quite brilliant. I love it :)

Thank you so much GrannyJen that explains my confusion - as there's only the 2 of us I might delete that option - Ive also gone for the Comfort lighting but Im now a bit concerned as this gives you lights in the pop top & having seen the recent posts about leaking pop tops am thinking if I should delete that too!! I have ordered a Coast as didnt want the electric roof, electric door, digital dash, but prefer to keep it simple for when Im on my own - trouble is the dealers dont even know what the options mean!!!

I quite like the lights in the pop top.

Everything forward of the front seats run off the engine battery so I do not like using the 12v cigarette lighter plug in the dash for anything and most definitely not the courtesy lights so I find the pop-top lights give quite a mellow glow down into that space.

I have had my cali out in all weathers and all winters and have never been troubled by leaks. I do not sleep upstairs so no rubbing against the fabric which could induce seeping after ingress by capillary action, and in very strong winds you can have water being sprayed through the vents but the weather, from my experience, has to be pretty wild before getting serious damp ingress.

I have had climatronic on my last two cali's only because that's how it came and to be honest I've never benefitted from it.

At Tonbridge I was told that I would get my deposit back in full if the van was delivered in 2021 and the No deal brexit tax meant it was extra to what was quoted.

So really, its zero risk.
I think this is always the case with new vehicle orders. As far as I know the deposit is basically fully refundable, even if the contract says otherwise. It's seems that it is not worth the dealers hassle to fight it.

Thank you - your explanation makes a lot of sense.
I think maybe I have over complicated what was to be a simple choice! I think I will delete the climatronic option as its not what I understood it to be.
Having visited 2 seperate dealers neither could tell me properly about those 2 options!!

For me:

No 1 in creature comforts is the heater. It's quite lovely to use.

No 2 is a comfortable bed so a decent topper plus a fluffy duvet.

No 3 is feeling secure and that lovely reassuring clunk when you lock the doors from the drivers window ledge button makes me go all fluffy.

Then, if I'm on mains, something nice cooking in the Remoska, something nice playing out of my little portable speaker ..... and something nice in a glass.

Heaven becomes Cali-shaped :)

Oh my that sounds exactly my way of thinking too - hence the missing electronics! but the added flooring, mattress, panarama window, it is for me - sounds devine - will have to look up the Remoska as not heard of that one!!

Its a small, low wattage cooker. Anything from instant meals to casseroles, Baked Cod to meat pies.

Please be aware that I believe that the climatronic has the digital temperature display to set the temperature and then maintain that temperature, without it, i believe the air-con is just on or off.

I’ve got Climatronic on my T6 and hopefully others will be able to confirm if I am correct or not!

Go for the 3 Zone Climatronic. It gives you three different temp zones which can be set individually (driver, passenger & rear). You can also override the rear temps with the ‘sync’ button if the kids are messing around with the the temp. There is also a ‘rest’ button which can be pressed at the end of a journey which diverts the engine heat into the rear - useful for when your camping heater is warming up.

Its not just on or off - you use the temperature control to decide how hot or cold you want the air thats blowing to be. You want air at 22 degrees coming out the outlets you turn the knob to 22 degrees, you want it at 16 degrees turn the knob to 16 degrees, its not exactly difficult.

The main difference is you get to decide how fast/noisy you want the fan to be rather than letting a computer decide.

As I said earlier a lot of the people knocking the basic system don't appear to have ever used it.

For a 2 person coast the basic will be fine but do get tinted glass, for a 7 seat beach my answer would be different.

Much lower cost if purchased directly from the Czech Republic. Alza.co.uk

So you set the Air temperature coming out but does it still turn off when the cabin reaches that temperature?

Or do you have to turn it on and off?

Can you tell me which battery runs the 12v socket in the roof space please?

Depends what setting you use.

I just tend to leave it running at the set temperature on the lowest fan speed & the temperature stays pretty constant.

If you use the auto setting it works exactly the same as the climatronic with the fan going faster & slower as needed just with a rotary knob rather than a digital display to set the temperature and only the one Zone.

Yes. When set to Auto, fan will drop off once it reaches temp, and kick in again as & when required.

At the weekend we went to view a Cali at a dealers...we sat upstairs with the large panoramic window open with our legs dangling down from the edge of the bed, looking out of the van....I immediately dreamt of us sat overlooking a lake/the sea in a lovely setting with a glass of wine just sat together looking out......that alone pretty much sold the Cali - Probably just me, but those are the moments you just can't get in any other vehicle and what make this Cali so special and attractive.

Agree.
I fancy a T6.1 Beach but will only be interested if they offer the Panoramic Canvas as an option.

Sorry Jen, may I ask, and this extend to the thread of people getting locked out, why do you lock from the driver window ledge? where do you keep your car key? I always use the key buttons to lock/unlock and the key is always with me. When i sleep (upstairs) the key is on top of the phone charging on the top frame .

I use the buttons by the drivers door because it does not activate the interior alarm and is also "safe lock" which means the doors are not deadlocked, they can be forcibly opened should there be an emergency and a rescue initiated.

Where I keep the keys depend on where I am but if on a campsite with roof up then the "shelf"above the wardrobe but if wild camping o a kitchen cupboard shelf where I can collect them easily on my way to the drivers seat should there be an emergency.
