New T6.1 order delays

Thanks for the info Tom, so to clarify and sorry if I get this wrong...regardless of when the vehicle arrives we have 28 days to take delivery if it was ordered before dec 2nd?
Correct 28 days from when it consigns in the Uk this will before it lands with your dealer.

I think we will need an update!

Just been on VW Chat and obtained an update on our week 44 two tone 4motion. The van left port on the City of Rotterdam bound for the Tyne 2 days ago. The ship is now on its way back from the UK and so I assume our van is sitting somewhere on Tyneside! Weird how some orders seem to have progressed so quickly, while others...

The dealer mentioned that factory is on a bit of a mission and knocking out vans pretty quick at the moment. I have a sneaking suspicion that if it’s not the RDE2 engine it’ll be the tow bar that slows ours up. I have no issue waiting just would like it to be a slightly less stressful wait. Feeling much better thanks to all the helpful feedback, so it’s appreciated!

I have to say I’m starting to get a little stressed out which takes some doing.

ordered a 199(now 204) 4 motion ocean on sept 30th. I still don’t have a build week and I’ve noticed that the Brexit tariff exemption is only valid until 31st of March. I’ve been on to VW chat and they where very clear that they couldn’t tell me when the van would be delivered and if it was past March 31st then I’m paying the tariff.

It seems incredibly unfair that after waiting 6 months and due to their inability to deliver what they promised I might get severely penalised. Especially tough to swallow knowing that i ordered a 150 today it’d be delivered in a few weeks well inside the deadline.
I wasn’t expecting a smooth ride buying a new vehicle but this is quite stressful considering the price tag so far!
Agree 100%. We are in the same position. I complained on the chat and it got escalated and I had a call from the CS team. They said they had spoken to Brand Support after I told them about what we were hearing on the forum. They asked me where I’d seen the statement about the Brexit tariff!? I said on the VWCV website! I think the lady on the phone was very embarrassed when she looked herself and found it easily! She said she will look into it and call me back this week.
After what Tom at Breeze has said, it seems that VW don’t know their backside from their elbow so to speak! In the process they are causing us unnecessary stress.
Come on VW - get it sorted!!!

Have you spoken to your dealer? VW are clear on their website, they say speak to your dealer for the detail. Here’s a screenshot.

It doesn’t say speak to VW chat. The post above shows how clued up VW chat are. Who’s your contract with? I think you’ll find it’s your dealer. What your dealer agrees with VWUK is irrelevant, what you agree with your dealer is what matters. My dealer and others have been very clear on this, in writing. If your dealer isn’t then you might want to think about moving to a dealer who is.

Yep spoken to the dealer and he was not completely on top of the details. But previous posts have clarified but hopefully get something clarified directly soon. However it really does depend on what VW say I don’t think the dealer is going to swallow the tariff regardless on what I agree with them. VW seem to have a bit of internal communication to sort out but it’s ultimately them and not the dealer who will decide.

As I say, you may want to move to a dealer who is on top of it and willing to put it in writing to you.

My dealer said 31 March or 28 days - whichever comes first. He also suggested I speak to VW CS for clarity, so I tried that and I’m still waiting. But after what Breeze have said on here I’ve now emailed my dealer and basically indicated that I’ll order from Breeze if they can’t provide clarity!!
I got 10% discount. Breeze have said they’ll beat DTD - What are they currently offering? With a guarantee of no tariff I could be better off reordering, as crazy as it sounds!?

Finally......clarity received! My dealer replied to my email saying that if the vehicle has not arrived by the end of March, we have 28 days from when it arrives in the UK. He did apologise for the confusion over the earlier message saying "whichever comes first". So all sorted now and very happy I have it in writing.

Time to relax again....

Great to hear!

Is your dealer Preston?

So I checked with my dealer (again) today about the whole Brexit tariff thing, specifically what happens if I don't take delivery before 31st March next year as others on here seem to have been assured that as long as delivery is within 28 days of the vehicle arriving in the UK then no extra charges. Again told that VW will not confirm what will happen if I can't take delivery of my Cali before the end of March. If there are dealers putting the 'take delivery within 28 days' thing in writing, I'm seriously considering cancelling and re-ordering with a dealer who'll guarantee no brexit tariffs if I order before Dec 2nd.

I don't blame you. I think I'd be inclined to wait until as late as possible (before the 2/12) so you can keep an eye on the trade talks. Apparently this week is the week to get it sorted....or not!
If it's not going to happen, and your dealer is not giving you the assurance you need, go elsewhere - there's good options around.

It's a disgrace that those of us who ordered the 199 are being messed around like this. I'm happy now I've got it in writing from my dealer - I would pursue that in a firm but calm manner first...
Good luck and keep us posted

Yeah looks like I need to get something in writing because VW support are not filling me with confidence.

They are bloody useless
They even told me that their "no tariff" statement didn't actually mean they would waive the brexit 10% tariff, it meant any price increases would be covered??? Isn't that the same thing?! Honestly, I've given up with them now I have confirmation from my dealer. :headbang

Had a call from my dealer (VW Centre, Liverpool) to tell me our van has arrived in Liverpool and will be ready for collection next week! That's a week 44 build. It's a 2tone 4Motion with lots of extras. So, I don't understand why we are having such major fluctuations in deliveries? Min you, I am also pretty excited!;)

My week 43 is still waiting for the train at Hannover, I have in my time obviously upset someone in Hannover? At least the info I have on Brexit is promising for a deal, despite the EU team getting Covid .... again.

Ooh, please do tell! Although I’m not supposed to be worrying over this anymore after the VW statement! A deal would still be good though.

"VW Support", don't make me laugh. Utterly useless during my 48 week saga. Don't waste your phone bill.

If yours is running alongside mine in timescale, my week 41 has apparently only just arrived in Sheerness yesterday. It obviously didn't want to overtake the weeks 44 and 45's that have already been delivered! So hopefully within two weeks yours should be in the UK. Hoping mine might now be avail in the next two weeks, been a long wait from mid July when ordered.

Noticed some 44s have come through and about to be united with their new owners.....My van must be feeling left behind by its mates because it was also a 44 build week but as of this afternoon it was still at Status 20, build in progress. I am getting feedback that "it's held for parts". Not sure what they could be as it is a 150 Cali with nothing out of the ordinary going onto it other than a strawberry red pop-top..... damn should have picked the blue one!....

We are in the same boat, although the dealer told me on Tuesday that he was confident that we would be taking delivery in 3 weeks time.

Yep mine is still sat in Hannover awaiting the train to Emden. Hopefully you can pick yours up from the dealer back end of the week, again they seem to have been getting to the dealers within days, then again it will probably take a fortnight. I just find it bizarre when you see a production line its a production line, they don't show the lay-bys or hard shoulders :) I thought I had ordered a bizarre option but that was put to bed talking to the others. Fingers crossed for you MM.
