New T6.1 order delays

My favourite email of the year so far:

"Your Cali is now at the UK port usually 7-10 working days turnaround at this point to get to us depending how busy the ports are."

Come on @Stu@rt. Tell us you've had some positive news too. Did next to each other in the queue translate to next to each other on the boat?

I've been watching your story nearly as closely as mine. :Nailbiting

Anyone else just landed?
Mine landed 10th June, just been advised its being delivered to the dealer tomorrow. 7 working days from port to dealer. Pretty decent really considering the current conditions.

Good to hear some good news. As my dealer is off today, so I contact the dreaded Chat. Apparently mine has been allocated build week 4 2022! 17 months after order! I'll speak to Eurovans tomorrow...

Only this summer. And a lot of places will be rammed full. So maybe try to relax, look on the bright side that you’re van is about to be built and use the time for planning some autumn trips?
Love that attitude @AlisonF
Thank you! 1st world problems, I know!

I can tolerate the waiting (I think). Its just the "nobody caring" bit that makes my blood simmer a little. I must work harder to bring out my nicer side :thumb
yes, have to agree. It can overtake you sometimes. we will all get there one day...

That's shocking Tim! Where abouts are you based? Mine was ordered September 2020, pretty much fully loaded and we take delivery next week. Can't really understand the huge difference in allocation times.

Amazing isn’t it.
I live in London, dealer in Crawley.

Doesn't surprise me unfortunately. Ordered my LHD Coast in mid Nov. Told delivery 10-12 months. Now told could be Nov/Dec, but no guarantees. Dealer says some of his customers have been waiting 18 months!!!!!! The allocation of build slots is incomprehensible.

Jeeeez. My dealer Eurovans said his longest has been 12 months (so far). What will be will be, BUT when you hear of some coming through in 4 months as you as I you wonder what prioritises and order. If they let me know I might have ordered that!

Tim, I’d almost prefer your wait to mine - been at the dealership since the beginning of May!!? PDI issue with the tailgate not fitting/ not formed correctly- had to order a new one ( maybe that’s why there are so many complaints about rear tailgate leaks recently) Followed by faulty rear camera- new one ordered. Finally due to be delivered last Monday but trailer driver damaged the roof in transit so at least another months repairs!!!!! Brand involved now with ‘gesture of good will mentioned’.

I ordered 30th Sept 204 4 Motion with Sports Pack and tow bar. When the first list came out I was 62(ish from memory). The last updated list about 6 weeks back I was 14. I’ve just got a confirmed build of week 28 12th July.

I know we're very close in spec and order date and I just got this today from my dealer:

"Yes your vehicle is now Status 20 with a build week of 28 confirmed so nothing can now change - this means it will be going into build week commencing 12th July so should see it here Mid-August"

Given other peoples delays along the way I won't hold my breath but might be worth a call to your dealer...fingers crossed

I'm very similar spec and order date within a few days (2nd Oct) - just had the same confirmed build week so hopefully some consistency

Frustrating as hell mate, so near so far!
But at least you'll get a van (and a gesture of good will) in 2021.
Everything crossed for you.

My Beach has now been in build for 3 weeks no sign of it leaving factory yet

Ditto - ours has/had build week 20 and it still has that status now - not left factory yet.

Very frustrating !
Double Ditto, well kind of. Our Week 20 Coast has still not left the factory. No one can tell me why.

Mine was build week 21checked with dealer yesterday still at status 20, frustrating as we’ve got campsites booked from mid July, looks like getting the Outwell back out from retirement.

VW commercial online chat have stopped providing delivery information.

... you are through to Paul at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, I hope you are well. Thank you for ordering a California, at present only the Van Centre have access to the build week of your California, sorry for the inconvenience. I recommend contacting them for an update. Do you have their contact details?

Seems consistent:

I have just checked your order and unfortunately, it states that only the Van Centres have access to the build dates, due to COVID-19 and the delays that have been caused. This means that factories are now updating the Van Centres directly, so we here at Customer Care aren't receiving the updates on our system. The best thing to do would be to speak with your Van Centre who can update you on the information they are receiving directly from Factory.

don't think you can build an electric van and then put a gas hob and a diesel heater in it. its a bit like having a vegetarian pie and then putting steak in it.
I think you can it would still significantly reduce damage to the planet - snd of course with time the gas hob and diesel heater could also be replaced - it’s called progress rather than sticking in the mud

It’s not though I’ve had a few tell me they won’t give me the update and then a few afterwards give me the update no problems

I ordered my Beach on the 12th February and took delivery this week on the 15th June. I was told 4-6 months when I ordered and for it to arrive almost bang on 4 months was fantastic. I have nothing but praise for the supply chain in my case.

9 Months since order placed. Despite all the delays along the way, Eurovans were fantastic in turning it round in a little over a day without any fuss. Now the fun begins. Good luck to all those waiting. It was one of the most frustrating times and seemed to get worse once we knew the van was built.
