New T6.1 order delays

Happy to hear Oceans from December start to be build and even deliver.
Still no news in the Switzerland market for me.
BTW, out of curiosity, when you guys speak about towbar, you mean the towbar itself or only the preinstallation? We order only the preinstallation, and I wonder if that can cause any delay.
I would say our 2 colors setup can be also the reason…
There is a chip that is causing the holdup for the full towbar installation. The preinstallation isn't affected by this.
We both ordered similarly spec'd Oceans in December but I have the full towbar to wait for, so you should get yours before me. My tentative build week is W38. Have you checked with your dealer lately?

Towbars are coming through again now

Just had some fantastic news, my van goes into build next week, have received no news at all since we ordered Jan 22nd so this is most welcome indeed. Honestly, even if there's further delays I'm just happy something is finally happening!

What is it with towbars? I had a delay of 2-3 months across Dec 19 to Feb 20 while my van waited for a factory fitted tow bar. Not exactly the most technical piece of kit.

Except for the electronics involved with it.

Wow that’s quite a spec!! An Ocean I assume? I ordered an Ocean 150 on 27th Jan and can’t seem to get any dates anymore? Dealer keeps in touch regularly but email usually says no news/no dates. I’ve been online with VW chat who have so far been unable to help also so it’s giving me hope seeing vans ordered around same time as mine starting to come thru!

Yeah it’s an Ocean, like I say, I’m more than a little sceptical about it actually happening, but to receive an update beyond “no news” is more than enough for me!

Yes the spec... you could say I ordered everything except the kitchen sink - but that’s only because it comes as standard.

Happy for you @Dreed2703 ! But I cant deny that it drives me crazy the fact that your van placed later than our and with more specs is going into build and ours no news and in principle not getting build till september.
I still believe VW plays lotery with the orders
Still, hope you get it fast and have time to enjoy it this summer

Hi @meryvan - Can't see any logic in it either, I felt for sure before today I was looking at 2022 before I took delivery. Perhaps the dealer networks all have separate queues/allocations between countries? I am in the UK despite what flag is displayed on my profile..... VPNs for you!

To be honest, I think my news today is also to be taken with a large pinch of salt, given some of the stories I've read on here so far - anything could still happen.

Oh yes, I assume there is the same queue despite the country, otherwise the theory goes bananas
In any case, one less van in the queue means mine will be closer to deliver any time in the future
Keep us posted!

I've been looking for logic since 8 October when I placed my UK Ocean order...still no build week (other than the provisional week 4 2022 crazy talk from Chat). I'll call my dealer again on Friday.
For you though, I WOULDNT take build next week with a pinch of salt. That sounds like a confirmed build week and once you're there, you're on a defined home straight to delivery. Very pleased for you, though I share @meryvan frustrations...o_O

A few Nov and Dec Coasts seem to be coming through now which is encouraging. Plenty with more options than we spec'ed too. Any recent Coasts with the flooring upgrade? Trying to play detective on the reason for the delay. No towbar or TPMS here!

Didn't have the flooring upgraded.
Figured I'm putting a rug down ontop anyway .
Speak to your dealer. Weve used Liverpool and John has been so helpful every time I've called or emailed.

Thanks Trudi. I email the dealer weekly, sadly he can't tell me why its been in build 6 weeks now. So you just end up speculating.

Keep us posted!
We ordered in Ireland on 2 Jan 2021, and initially told April, then week 23, 25, 36 and now week 50. The reason from VW Commercial Ireland is outlined in DM Twitter message on 11 June may explain country ques. ;

From VW: "Hi Ann Marie, as a larger market, the UK will receive a higher number of production slots allocated, and as a result of the issues above, the factory have been unable to allocate the Irish market additional slots to accommodate the extra demand. However, we appreciate your frustration and take your feedback on board."
https://twitter.com/VolkswagenVanIE
From Me: "Now we got a call from our VW dealer and told our build week is now week 50!!! still not fair that Please explain how UK orders that were placed after ours are getting through quicker?

From VW: "Hi Ann Marie, the build weeks are not dictated by the markets themselves. As previously mentioned, the UK will naturally receive a higher number of production slots allocated, which will also be pushed out due to COVID-19, the global semiconductor shortage and increased demand. These are also the issues that have resulted in the factory being unable to offer additional production slots to the Irish market. Again, we appreciate your frustration and apologise for the inconvenience."

As as result we have bought a VW t4 to keep us going over the summer and have kept the Beach on order but are considering changing to Coast. At least we are back on the road as had sold our T25 on the promise that the new van would be delivered in April. We now believe there is a reason for this delay and the universe wants us to reconsider what it is we need in a van. so will use this time to ensure we get the van we want.
