Hope I’ve posted in the right place. Upgraded our se 180 this week for a newer t6 ocean and really pleased, until opened sliding door this morning and handle became completely stuck open and now door won’t close. Can anyone help. Thanks

Bit more info would help.
Is it a power door or manual?
If manual I would suggest that the cable to the lock (at the rear of the door has jammed or snapped, leaving handle stuck out on the outside.
Can the door be moved back and forwarded in the opening?
If power door any sound of motor if dash button pressed to close?

It’s a manual door and still slides. The handle is stuck out and not retracting.I have tried to post a picture. Is it safe to push handle back in? And if not if it will close will it be ok to drive to garage? Thanks

Think you will find that if you can pull the door nearly closed, the power soft close (present on most Oceans will do the rest.
The lock at the rear of the door is manual until nearly closed then pulled into the opening by the soft close motor on the rear lock cam which will grab hold and latch the door shut as it rotates.
Will then be safe to drive to garage..
Will post some images if the words do not make sense in next 1/2 hr as not with my van

Some pics to help.

The first is the rear lock in manual mode.
If your lock is in this position, manually pushing the door into the opening should cause the lock to operate and latch shut.
Points to note, if you have snapped the cable this is a likely to be a one way ticket and if the door does not fully latch shut it will rattle about in the opening and May release.
Be careful how hard you push on the outer door skin, avoid the centre as you do not want to dent the door.
Have you tried the inner door release instead of the outer and if you do is their any sound of the rear lock operating.
The second image is of the lock manually operated and locked shut.
If yours looks like this then the door cannot be manually shut unless this is released.
Again try the inside door release to see if this operates.
If the door cannot be closed securely, do you have VW assist as this should be covered as a tow event to the garage, as the vehicle is insecure and unsafe to drive in this condition

All closed fine from inside just feels like handle not attached to anything behind.

Don’t know the cable layout inside the door but if the internal door release functions correctly (ie operates the lock and you can manually shut the door again from outside) then does sound like the outer handle has become detached from the operating cable.
Do you still hear the soft close motor “Whirr” when you operate the internal release?
No doubt VW will relieve you of a decent amount of cash for the fix unless still under warranty.
From another post I have shown the door internals with the teleflex cable that operates the rear lock marked in green and the central locking motor block that both the internal and external handles should be connected to (which your external handle appears to be detached from).
Let us know the outcome please when resolved.

Out of interest @AndrewBye was the door handle frozen when you opened the door?

No not frozen, we only picked it up on Wednesday the dealer has offered to cover all costs of repair. It dealt a little loose on operation and then just stopped working.

Good to hear that it will be covered :thumb

Just had garage out and it seems the handle had just in clipped when opening, could be pulling it on a slight incline ? All good now though thanks for all your help.
