New T6.1 order delays

Great news from the dealer, they’ve received my Ocean and it should be ready to collect Friday or Saturday this week!
Not a great photo as it was taken from a video, but proof that it exists! :D

Congrats!

Could have picked ours up tomorrow but have to go half way across the country for it, and typical after a 13 month wait there isn't a bus, train or hire car to be had this week..... pickup next Tuesday now when I can next hire a car at an almost sensible price.

Typical theres a mass train strike this week! I may end cycling there if the trains are up the spout - It’s about 35 miles from home.

Congratulations. Looks really nice. :thumb I was watching your progres as we had it similar from build week like you. Looks like our Beach stuck in Emden. It had been built 2weeks ago. Still status 30.

Thanks and sorry to hear that yours is stuck there. As always, the way these are being built and shipped makes no sense…

Ordered my Ocean in June 2021 with anticipated delivery in March 2022.
Then told that due to all of the current issues that no date could be confirmed. Wrote off getting it for the summer, then out of the blue 2 weeks ago got a call to say that it was in the Uk!
Picked her up last Friday - very pleased - hopefully the rest of you may get some good news too.

So pleased for you mate. Been following your patient posts with interest and look forward to a picture of you grinning next to the twin of my Ocean

Doubly good day if you do that - you’ll feel on top of the world in the evening

If it wasn’t for you being so helpful I would still probably be worrying about the colour and wouldn’t have ended up with the sport pack :thumb

Yeah, it doesn’t. At least we know Cali is built and will be with us sooner or later. When we ordered, we were told 12 months wait. Now it’s been 9 months so we are ahead anyway.

Also been called this week to say our Coast has arrived and can be collected next week! 10 months after ordering so pretty much as expected although it’s felt a lot longer. I hope that things are moving along now for everyone else still waiting

Collected our Cali Ocean from Eurovans on Wednesday

Here are some initial observations;

- When lowering the roof, there is a lot of roof fabric. Its really tough to shut the panel above the driver area. I’ve previously hired an Ocean and it was easy compared to our van. I’ve resorted to unzipping the big opening, closing the roof then tucking the fabric further back towards the bed. The panel then shuts more easily.
- We have lane keep assist on our 2022 VW Polo. I wish we ordered it on the Cali
- also wished we ordered more factory fit options. We are going to have the van for a long time and I should have maxed out the options and really blown our budget
- no rattles! Very impressed with how the van drives on the 250 mile drive from Crawley home to Devon
- we got the extra 5th seat. I didn’t realise how much faff it is to remove and reinstall. So we I need to decide whether we keep it in the van and sacrifice the living space or remove it and restrict the van to only 2 of our kids
- love the colour, love the van

Anything specifically? We’re in similar position to you, as in hoping to keep it a long time.
We’re also interested to see what people would spec differently. As we’re back in the position of no provisional build week, I think we can make changes to order (just worried if this will impact any potential price protection).

We regret not speccing a tow bar, and would probably ditch the safe box if we can make changes, as I understand it takes up valuable room in the wardrobe, and as everyone knows where it is, it isn’t that safe.

The only thing I wished I'd spec'ed for my Coast (didn't know it existed during the ordering phase) is the small drawer. Luckily its retrofitable and won't cost a fortune.
I will find out in due course if the upgrade of standard CC to ACC was a mistake.

Much the same position as you - no build date as yet and plan on it being a long-term keeper.
We spent ages thinking about the options for our Ocean, lots of 'goodies' are in the std spec, so, in the end we went with only very few - Towbar, large fuel tank, 4 keys, metallic paint and the all season tyres.
Stereo/Sat Nav - kept std fit as the Discover system is basically the same as our Passat, which works fine. So many issues with the Pro it seems, many end up using a phone instead, so skipped on that.

Otherwise, thought about the Dynamic chassis - but many upgrade to new springs dampers anyway.
Skipped the Art-Velours upgrade too - gone for a set of the 'half and half' covers from the Club Shop - essentially the same at half the VW price, with the added 'layer' or protection.

Skipped the added driver aids - I'm not a big fan, I prefer to be in control - not keen on all of this self-drive stuff - hopefully by the time we are all in 'driver-less cars' I will be old enough to want to be chauffeurred around anyway!! :)

But as with anything, each to their own and we all have the choices. Glad to see so many vans coming through now - hope you are all enjoying them.

Ditto - my Ocean is also now at Emden, keeping yours company. Can I start buying stuff now?
Do it……my June 21’ Ocean is at UK port, so given myself license to buy: new washing equipment, collapsible saucepans, collapsible kettle, window deflectors, gas, hook up cables, rear bumper protector, front and rear dashcams, scorpion tracker, fire extinguisher, awning straps. All in addition to a reg. plate that I bought months ago……can’t wait for dealers call to say ‘come and pick it up!’

Forget thermal windscreen cover and wheel valve dust caps……

I love reading what people have bought - we’ve been buying various bits and bobs since placing our order. @jonr71 I’m impressed you’ve held out so long - happy shopping!

I did break out and bought an ISOTOP a few weeks ago when they came into stock. I thought if it all went wrong I would be able to sell it. Now considering my growing Amazon list...

Update on my Beach Camper - it has been at UK port since last week, not moving. It’s not the only one, according to the dealer. Apparently the transport firm has 10 working days to deliver vehicles after they arrive in the UK, but it looks like mine will miss that time window and because the dealer needs a few days to check and polish it, it’s looking like first week of July for me to collect.. ordered end Nov 21, built week 22.

I just hope it hasn’t been crashed coming off the boat or any number of other hazards my idle mind can think of!
