2023 updates

Water Heater with remote sounds a bit interesting. What's that?
It could be the configurable diesel fueled engine coolant preheater upgrade, which also preheats the interior and defrosts/deices the windows. All vans have this device installed in order to help bring the engine up to running temperature in cold weather to reduce emissions, but the standard version comes on automatically when the engine is started at low temperatures, and no driver intervention is possible. This is a different device than the parking air heater, which I also have. This is located on the other side of the van, and is optimized for low battery usage. The coolant heater uses coolant pumps and dash fans, which makes battery usage high and therefor is not appropriate for constant heating when parked.

Half hoping they have run out of green and have to offer a two-tone for free .. :)

Bay Leaf Green and Copper Bronze - the two dropped colours - are still listed for panel vans, so guess the colour options are just what VWUK want to offer for new orders (many other two-tone were available in Europe - just UK limited options).
Not having a green available for a camper is a mistake I think. Some brighter colours are missing too.
I don’t understand why they don’t let you order in any available Transporter colour

What are these?
Lack of height adjustment is one of the major missing features I think
I think it’s just a configurator error, they were introduced for the T6 and are still available in some other regions, fully electric seats including hight adjustment, but they didn’t say anywhere in the brochure that these seats can’t swivel. Hence some rather upset customers on delivery.

I believe that someone has put an aftermarket swivel under a comfort seat.
Once you've done that, it makes the seat go higher than a standard one but not lower if that makes sense.

If all vans have this device then why is it an option and why would it have a remote?

We have the “air and water heater with remote”, the dealer explained the water bit is for the engine bay to pre warm the engine on cold days, the air bit is for inside the van

Naturally as we’re all boiling right now I haven’t used it

I thought the same so took the driver seat with electric height adjustment (no swivel), then have the passenger seat with manual standard adjustment, no height adjustment, and still with swivel.

For us it gives a perfect driving position (as ours is a Beach and our daily driver), whilst still having some living room feel with one front seat swivelling.

Note with LHD, it works well with this setup as the driver seat would anyway be mostly blocked when the table (edit: or the mini kitchen) is in place.

Just been checking on the German Configurator - looks like Bay Leaf Green and Copper Bronze are no longer options on there now.

Seem to be the same colour choices as the UK site now, with the addition of a two-tone in Mojave Beige/Pearl Black.

Am starting to wonder now whether those of us with outstanding Green or Bronze orders might have to think about a 2nd choice ...

Wishful thinking but could be bumped up the order list to get them out of the system.

With the standard version, no driver intervention is permitted, it turns on automatically when the engine is started at cold temperatures to speed achieving operating temperature. With the programable upgrade you can program a time to start engine coolant preheating to avoid excessive wear when cold, and preheat/defrost/deice the interior using the 3 zone vents, or you can use the remote to turn it on from your kitchen while you have breakfast.

Looking at it there seems to still be a lot of pack codes on the configurator being shown rather than the option names. I'd give the system a few days to filter through before taken any of it as gospel. The new oak cupboards are awful but love the new bottom two tones - not convinced with a silver upper though…
The oak cupboards in my Coast look at least a hundred times better in the flesh than they did in the configurator. Not so sure they work with the palladium seats though. The Coast upholstery is a bit lighter and has some colour tones that tie in with the oak. Maybe VW has some oak cupboards leftover now they don’t offer the Coast and trying to sell them on.

Agreed. Would take the Coasts light oak panels over the Ocean's darker one's every day. Gives the Cali a Tardis feel, visually opening up the living space. It was the light oak and manual roof that really sealed the deal for the Coast.

Just been trying to configure a new Ocean & have come across a couple of 2023 updates.

Drive the deals configurator & price list corresponds with the latest brochure (July 13 2022) but the Vw configurator is not yet working.

First change is choice of colours.
The bayleaf & orange have been dropped Both as single colour & two tone. Instead we have some new 2 tone choices:Two-tone paint
01 Reflex Silver/Fortana Red metallic
02 Reflex Silver/Indium Grey metallic
03 Reflex Silver/Starlight Blue metallic
04 Candy White/Ascot Grey | BE | OC |

There also appear to be changes to what colour vans you can have the style & sports packs fitted to - it now appears to be any colour except 2 tone.

Other than that, it doesn't look any different to before.
Wood floor is still an option.

This has got me intrigued:
1. Sliding window with fly screen in passenger compartment, left.
2. Sliding window with fly screen in passenger compartment, right.
3. Sliding window in front and fixed window in rear in load/passenger compartment on driver side.

All 3 are options on the beach but 1&2 are standard on the Ocean with 3 being a further £240 option.I I cant see what it would be unless its a further slider behind the C pillar?
This is new:

In that driver steering recommendation picture the gearbox has sport mode…..

I like the side wind assist, which sounds related, but have never hoped for assistance under steering my oversteering…
Side wind should be useful, although I expect it’s a very rare occurance.

Oversteering / understeering… I’ve never needed in my life of many vehicles never mind in a van

I rammed up the M6 one stormy night in November. Felt like the cross winds and draught from trucks were ironed out by the cross wind assist, which should require some noticeable opposite steer in a
van

Seems you were spot on with that idea, e-mail from our dealer yesterday - Build Status 20, Build Week 28 - which is this week just gone (w/c 11th July). Green to the front!! (Apologies to all those still waiting..).

For info - Order date Mid-Oct 21, ordered with towbar and 80l tank, otherwise std.

Happy days :thumb Out of interest, were you ever asked about keeping / removing side assist? We’re trying to work out where we stand in the pecking order, as we were asked if we wanted to remove it to speed up our order - we said no thanks, and now have a provisional build date of August or September, depending on who we speak to.

Fingers crossed.:)
No, we were never contacted regarding the Side Assist. Basically we have had a monthly update of Status 00 since ordering, never got any provisional dates etc. then suddenly we are in build.

I suspect that there are many reasons for the apparent mix up of order dates, build dates, delays etc. I can imagine certain parts may be in short supply on a week to week basis, maybe only small deliveries. Maybe a bit like an Airfix model kit, you can't put the cockpit canopy on until you have fitted the pilot and if the seat is in short supply, no progress. Then the seat comes in but the canopy is on back order ...

Perhaps a batch of a certain colour roof comes in and vans in that colour get brought forward to keep the line moving. Lots of potential that would end up seeming to us as confusing with no rhyme or reason. I doubt that the factory is ever going to send that level of detail out to the dealers - I wouldn't want that job!

All speculation at the end of the day though. Fingers crossed for everyone.
