New T6.1 order delays

I’ve followed this post on and off since we ordered an Ocean on Aug 3rd last year from SMG Tonbridge. Martin was great to deal with throughout, always answering my occasional mails within minutes. The van was in build for 3 weeks then took a week to get to Tonbridge (on a Monday). I collected on the Friday and then straight up to Norfolk for a week’s camping holiday with the family and dog on the Saturday morning having never driven or even sat in a Cali for more than a few minutes in a showroom! No extras other than wood effect flooring and comfort mattress. Needless to say, it was worth the wait. Very pleased with the Ascot grey as well after huge indecision over colours!

Our Irish Candy White/Bay Leaf Coast (manual, 150bhp) finally arrived last Monday, after October 2021 Order! Believe it went into production beginning of June, spent from June 16th at Emden till shipping about July 10th or so.

Having not really seen inside one since October I’m surprised how much more storage there is and space vs what I recalled and it feels so very well thought through, everyone absolutely loves it, just absolute game changer really. (With the long wait time, have been regularly reading here and especially over-thinking the colour choice - no need. LOVE it, it’s opening up a whole new lifestyle now, really very happy!)

Some pics from the West of Ireland overlooking the Atlantic and first trip the other day.

Looks amazing - safe travels.
Our Copper and Candy White Coast (also manual) will arrive to our dealer tomorrow and we can collect it on Friday...............yay! :bananadance2 Ordered July 2021. Safe travels and we might see ye out there :)

We are awaiting ours from Liverpool. We are now 12 months 2 weeks since ordering. Ours went into build week 28 and if it got out before shutdown I hope to see it end of the month, or early September. Trip planned 15th so fingers and toes crossed!!

Our Ocean went into build Wk20 and it’s still stuck there. Ordered June 21.

Suspect it’s waiting for a tow bar, but no one really knows or can tell me.

Also ordered from Liverpool.

Anyone know the factory shutdown dates…?

Did you get an "official" reply to your escalation request?

Having heard nothing, I chased with my dealer via a mate in the trade who put me on to them. He's been promised a response by lunchtime today.

I got the call from the sales manager who said he raised a question with the factory, but then I had to call him back to see if he got a response.

At that point (while I was on the phone to him) he checked “the system” and there was no further update….still stuck in build at status 20.

So it seems they were just checking the systems and in reality we’re none the wiser.

I’ve resigned myself to waiting….not sure they can do much. Assuming the factory is closed for a few weeks, best case is that it would get shipped until the end of August and then could take another 6-8 weeks based on other’s experience. Might be here by Christmas….;-(

Let me know how your escalation call goes…

Will do.

My thinking time wise is same as yours - factory will be shut shortly for a couple of weeks so unless I hear something this week, it's likely going to be September earliest.

My lease car went back on Monday so now vehicle less and, quite literally, on my bike until the van arrives.

Feels like deja vu. Coast delivered in May with wrong engine. VW agreed to build another to the original spec, dealer said it would be fast tracked and I'd be able to take delivery 'possibly' in July but certainly before I leave on vacation in early September. As of today no confirmation the Coast is in build. With the August shutdown imminent I have no expectations it will arrive by the end of the month. The silver lining could be that I have a MY23 if the delays go on long enough.

Groundhog Day :( - well it's groundhog day... again.

Our Liverpool June 21 order started build week 19 and was delivered to us June 28th.

It had a Towbar.

So, apparently my salesman has left the business, hence no replies to my emails. Bit annoyed no one has contacted me to tell me this but heh. For anyone else who is / was using Nick Baker at Listers in Coventry, if you've not heard anything from anyone there, might be worth dropping them a line.

According to the sales manager, my vehicle is showing "confirmed build and should be with us September time all being well". I've been allocated a new contact who I'll follow up with to see if there's any more details

So sounds like at least a month without any vehicle and another festival I will have to try and recover the money on the tickets for because I have no way to get there or camp.

Not happy at all when vehicles ordered in January 2022 are already delivered, in use and people have been sent a blanket by way of apology.

Wow, that's very poor.

At least when our sales guy left he was replaced by a much better sales person, at least they called to tell me.

Still don't have the Cali though, so I suppose it's not made any difference. I'd really like to understand what is missing...

Great to hear, I’ve also been dealing with Mike at Eurovans and he has nothing to offer me, not even a build date. I placed my deposit June 21. I fear I’m going to get caught up in the dreaded price increase which seems very unfair.
We ordered with Mike 2 August 21 and are waiting too. Feel your pain!

Said it before, I think the Teresina alloys as it's the only common thing on our orders that didn't seem to be on anyone elses.

Could well be they've got them now but run out of something else though.

Either way, I intend to pursue this through VW for what it's worth - maybe I'll get two blankets.

Indeed, I’d forgotten the wheels. Who knows, nobody is telling us anything.

Fingers crossed for your blanket(s).

Would that be the same Nick Baker who was at Droitwich Listers? If so, that is our salesman. No wonder I haven’t heard anything from them!

I'd guess so, it says Droitwich in his emails but other stuff refers to it as being Coventry. I did it all over the phone so never been to the actual site.

Give them call and make yourself known. I've been given a new person to contact going forward.

It's there & working on the configurator but probably wouldn't go through as an order.

Advice from my dealer is look at the brochure, if they've gone to the trouble of printing a brochure with it as an option they probably meant to do it, rather than trusting the configurator which takes about 6 months for VW to get right after every update.
For anyone still interested - the Configurator now looks to be a lot more 'Cali Normal' - all of the 'van' options have now gone and it seems only Cali options remain.
One interesting item though - the Active Lane Assist option is no longer there - in it's place is a 'Without Lane Change Assist' option - so maybe it is still the electronics for that function that is holding up the various builds? Just a guess, but ...

BTW: Drivers door handles are now back in stock and the table in the door is back to normal colour too...

We got this e-mail from VWUK on Monday (25/7), so maybe something happening:

Good news. Your order is moving along nicely and we're busy building your California to your exact specifications.
We'll be in touch with more news soon. In the meantime, you can get in touch with your Van Centre below if you need any help.

Build week was wk28 - 11th July. Our order was confirmed as a MY23 build too.

We ordered in Bay Leaf Green and with a towbar, but maybe we are now in the wait queue too? I think the original order colours will still come through though, it's not like there is no more green paint left - at least hope so...
With apologies to all those still waiting - esp. @couplands @Begize and @Corradobrit - just had 'the email'. Our van is in the UK and due to be delivered to our dealer end of next week.

For those still waiting and wanting info:
Ordered Mid Oct 21 - estimated delivery End Sept 22
Into Build Status 20 on Week 28 - so just over 3 weeks ago.
Ocean 150 in Bay Leaf Green with: factory tow bar, 80 litre tank, Devonport wheels with All Season tyres and 4 keys, all else std. incl. the std. Lane/Park Assist.

Probably doesn't help in trying to work out why yours are so delayed - other than to say, perhaps things are now speeding up and you will all get your good news very soon. Certainly hope so.

Despite all the time waiting/thinking, filling the cupboards with stuff, now a mad scramble to sort out stuff like insurance etc.

Good luck all.

Excellent news...!

Got to be a great feeling when you get "that" email...;-)

I guess that definitely rules out the tow bar as a reason ours is delayed. As @Begize reminded me, it could be our choice of Teresina wheels.
