Only makes one think that when seriously all start to make the same cars, why even bother to be silent about what the “new” version will be like if it has been presented already to the public by the competition.

I am this exact market and I don't think it'd work for me. Aside from the practicality aspect of where to store our things the very thought of letting them loose on that light coloured interior with gloss finishes is giving me the chills. I might start selling microfibre cloths with a little Cali logo on them, will make a killing when it's launched :)
The prototype we saw actually had a dark interior, it was that sort of grey textured (almost wood) finish you see on the lower part of the kitchen unit. I think all the cupboards were finished in it, plus dark fabric on walls, etc. It looked quite a dark interior because of it. I think it was considered more appropriate for the younger target market. We commented on it, said that we liked the brighter, more clinical, all-white look of the GC’s, which would help to open up the interior. Looks like we might have influenced that decision… but on the bright side, it’ll improve sales of your new business cloths.

Incidentally, just remembered, the fabric on the front window blinds appeared to be a thicker, almost quilted, thermal type. These looked great.

Sounds like that means they are isolated and not integrated into the pillars like on Transporter Cali. A better option but will take up valuable storage which the Multivan already lacks. Did you see how the leisure area blinds/coverings worked?

Will have to slip you some commission when CaliCloths goes global :)

The front side window blinds were magnetic and I think that they said that the front windscreen blind was the hanging type, similar to our T5.1. My wife thinks that there were retractable blinds in the rear habitation area but I didn’t actually see or look at these. I’d be surprised if they weren’t retractable with such a slick interior.

Light interior will make it look bigger. Prob any chosen to try and hide that it’s a bit small really.

I remember somewhere a video of the grand prototype. The bathroom collapsed to give more space and the hob gas rings were flush and popped up. These features disappeared from production. Or did I dream that

Nope you didn't dream it. So much promise for the GC, so little delivered. Haha. The same will happen to the MV, although this GC Concept was in a different league. That skylight, that stove top, the wash room. Better start saving for the Ford Custom Cali.

Great that you dug this video as a reminder of the possible differences between concept product and delivered product in this space

It'll certainly turn a few heads on the.CCC site and act like camouflage in France

Of course……. It could always double up as a riot wagon :D

Our French friend had an early VW camper in the early 1970’s, painted purple, which he changed to get a Citroen ’H’ type commercial van which his uncle fitted out as a motor home with beds, sink, cooker, etc.

One night they stopped up in a quiet spot outside a church in a village square. They awoke early the next morning to the sounds of other similar looking vehicles arriving and the noisy bustle of market stalls being set up, to the extent that they were totally blocked in, and had to spend the rest of the day there until the market had been dismantled.

That's the one. Him checking his eyebrows and staring at that woman oddly alot. Those gas burners were ace though. What happened to those? Wonder if you can still get them somewhere
