perhaps not new news, but I'd not seen it until I got an email from VW just now.

c. £7K premium for the Hybrid over the TDI & Ocean starting at £85,395 / Coast at £78,495

I think @WelshGas posted the other day that 1st gear is now electric drive, so 6x 'mechanical' gears ?

less invested in all the new van news myself now than I was; I've convinced myself that one or two years early retirement bring-forward is worth more than any van swapover.

Yep, ordered it and got £9K off.
Interesting about the 6 speed DSG

I still have 5 years left of work, so the 5* promise is good for me.

9k off, Interesting.

I’ve only recently noticed that they now do a 4motion 245hp Beach! Shame the 200hp 4m was never available on the T6.1 Beach.

Not sure I could live with the pointless kitchen unit in the boot though.

I think it's just 6 gears no matter if ICE or EV drive, yes the EV drive is integrated to the DGS box in a special way, but if 1st was electric only then what does that mean when the EV drive battery is flat, we go straight to 2nd?!? :) Not sure my VAG PHEV worked like that, it was often at 0% a few times a week. The reason I read for only 6 speed is the 6 speed DSGs can handle more torque which the ICE + EV combined can produce.

I have a Multivan Hybrid. From the information I have gleaned ALL lowspeed manoeuvres are carried out by EV drive, hence 1st and Reverse. The EV range predicted uses about 85% of the total EV battery capacity, the rest being reserved for the lowspeed manoeuvres, powering the brakes assistance, steering assistance and climate systems as well as lights .
If for some reason the power capacity of the EV battery falls below a certain level the IC engine starts and the Dashboard graphics show the EV battery being charged by the IC engine and if manoeuvring at low speed this continues until about 5 mph when the IC engine switches to powering drive wheels.
Thus the EV battery never gets to Zero capacity despite EV miles dropping to Zero miles.
Significant power/torque is required to get a vehicle moving, hence Electric drive is the ideal choice thus doing away with first gear/reverse. I think you would find the gear ratios in the Hybrid DSG 6 speed are equivalent to the gears 2 to 7 of the 7 speed DSG box thus also weight saving in some respect.
When showing 0 mls of EV drive initial acceleration from stop is always EV drive.

Arh that's very interesting to know, is that a 4WD Multivan or was there also a 2WD one? Our Cupra PHEV was 2WD and never worked like that, it had a mind of it's own and sometimes even started in ICE mode even with 100% EV battery, much to our frsutration as we always wanted it to be in EV mode as much as we could with 7p / kWh chargeing?!?!

2wd SWB Multivan Style 7 seater.
