Last week, at the end of June, we came home after a 2 months trip and close to 5000 km from Ghent to Zwitserland and then Bretagne. One month, clockwise trough Switzerland, avoiding Motorways. Then France from east to west, South Bretagne and north Bretagne, and then back home. We always spent the nights on Parking lots, using the "Park4Night" app and the "Euro-Relais." Close to cities, Lausanne, Bern, Zürich and Lugano, we stopped in the expensive (55CHF/night) campgrounds.
In France we used extensively "France-Passion", vineyards, cheese, goats, bisons, bees and more.
Our GC has a build-in solar pannel, we never needed to hook on outside electricity.
France has a good network of camping car "points" where one can empty Waste water and Chemical toilets, and usually stay overnight.
As mentioned above, I program the GPS to avoid motorways.
We are movers, slow movers. The schedule looks like this: leave the night-spot around 10:30, after a good night and a solid breakfast aboard. An hour and 50 km later, we make our first halt to drink a coffee and stretch the legs. around 12:30 we start looking for a small restaurant, in France the "menu ouvrier" is generally a good choice. After lunch we enjoy a one hour nap, very important! Around 14:30 we move on and we find our night spot the latest at 16:30 and 120km further.
This is why it took us 2 months to drive 5000 km. No stress.
In August we've planned to go to Sweden.

Now that is what is really about "taking the slow road!" . Enjoy your further adventures. That is the way to do it!

I think your way of ‘slow travel’ sounds lovely. Do you plan to do a more detailed trip report?
