6.1 Heater Not Working

Took my wife to work this morning in the van, on return tried again and it now works. I had been using as a home office and may have exceeded some programmed heater time usage rule or I guess something just reset. Hopefully experience may help someone in future. Thanks for all advice.
I thought my heater was broken when I first used it. The heat immediately option will turn heater on if the level you set it at has not been achieved and then when it gets to that level it will turn off (remote works same way). So if the level is say 3; then it may not some on. Trying putting level up to max. Also, it will sound like it’s coming on; then turn off; and then on second go about 30 seconds later start properly. Apparently that’s normal behaviour.

My heater has failed with the heater error messag,we had it on all night working great on heat continuous the next night no heating with the error message the van hadn’t moved battery full.Really annoying good job we had a good sleeping bag.As Other have said I am predicting the heater will reset after a short drive fingers crossed but this isn’t good enough.

What about your fuel levels?

I have but in the isle skye they don’t have a vw specialist
If you cant move the van because the roof is up, thats VWs problem not yours.

True,I wanted to remove the fuse to the control panel then see if it clears but not sure which fuse
just had a call from vw assist a local garage has been informed of what to do this involves battery disconnect

I reckon its the We Connect app, worked out you were camping in Scotland & immobilised the van!

Post 6. Remove fuses 5,6,7 & 8 to reset Control Panel.
Fuses either under front passenger seat or in Dashboard fuse box.

Yes not sure about the 5,6,7&8 comments only one fuse required to isolate the panel 5amp under passenger seat near the battery
which I have just pulled and the panel is now back working roof lowered so all good
but the heater still has a fault so I am going to take it for a drive and see if that comes good

Just a few things I would like to share from today’s issue, vw assist advised the mechanic to disconnect the leisure batteries the guy turned up with the idea he needed to start removing trim to access the batteries which i really wasn’t happy with so i asked him to find the fuse for the control panel which he located at the passenger seat box ,he then pulled the fuse the control panel went off,5 minutes later the fuse was replaced and all good the roof lowered and the panel was fully accessible.
But the heater fault was still present,so as others have said I went for a drive and everything reset and heater is now working.
I have been told by my local vw Van centre that an update is available for my van this covers issues relating to the roof,he said when the roof is up for more than 7 hours it can fault the screen could show different faults this is caused by the roof issue.
If this happens to anyone else don’t let them pull the van to bits before pulling the fuse I will put pictures on soon hope this helps and I hope this update sorts the ongoing issue.

Specifically, which fuse was pulled? Description would be good - photo even better!

Thanks.

No need to remove any trim. Leisure Batteries disconnected under front seat.

2 week old 6.1 Coast and heater has stopped working with plenty fuel and battery juice. The symptoms are: control panel indicates on but heater fails to start. There is an audible click every few seconds from the passenger footwell, sounds like a relay clicking off and on, this also reboots the control panel which seems to dump heating selections. With engine running, the panel seems to work as normal but still no heating. Remote control light flashes rather than solid green when selected. The panel also warned that 'maximum running time reached' but that has gone now.
If anyone got any experience or clues they are willing to it would be very welcome?

Had a very similar problem last night on our 6.1. Heating stopped working. Could hear clicks from passenger foot well. The control panel showed heating was on but the fan nor the heating were working. Used the gas stove to stay warm for the night!

Drove off from the campsite this morning and within 5 minutes the heating came. It now seems to work fine?

You used the gas stove to heat the van? Any headaches ?

Did you have it set to Heat Continuously?

Tried all settings and nothing worked so gave up and started googling the problem. Then in the morning when we drove away it started working all on its own!

Very frustrating. We have had so many problems with 6.1 in the last 10 months the list is almost endless. Every camping trip something stops works working or breaks...

Does sound like a ‘heat immediately’ issue, which I understand heats up once then you have to drive to reset.

why did VW do this ? what was wrong with just turning the heater on when it was cold and turning it off when it was warm ? the T6 heater is brilliant. mines never failed in 4 years use often running all night
