Alternative to a Duvalay - self inflating

Hi there - we have an Ocean 6.1 (2024) and bought a duvalay for 'upstairs'. The comfort is great but find it a bit of a faff when we want to go out for the day and have to roll it up and store it etc. We're considering 'self inflating' options - appreciate they probably won't be as comfortable as the duvalay. I've watched a few Youtube's etc but wondered if anyone had any experience of leaving a deflated one upstairs (on top of the existing VW mattress), with the roof down (so only storing bedding). Thanks

We keep a deflated Sea to Summit in the roof permanently, with a travel duvet laid over BUT I have removed the exisiting VW mattress which for us is then unecessary.

I would not want to store the deflated Sea to Summit over the VW mattress, thought it might just fit if the former is fully deflated with a pump: because there would not be space left for a duvet which we like to have on hand but not taking up space in the back.

We are only two, so with our arrangement we can either sleep in the roof or below, though for the latter we obviously need to raise the roof to get the mattress down.

Great thanks - so in summary...you've done away with the VW mattress and put the sea to summit on the frolli springs and leave a thin duvet up top with the roof down? How does the sea to summit compare to the VW mattress for comfort? The duvalay is really comfy on top of the VW mattress but takes up room (especially if we go on a longer excursion). Thanks :)

Correct.

My wife and both find the Sea to Summit comfortable. Like all inflatables it has that slightly wobbly feel, which takes us back to childhood LILO’s at the seaside, but we sleep well and our 70 year old backs are fine in the morning.

Like you, I was bothered by extra baggage, so in my case I did not order the VW comfort mattress which is a big lump, ditto any toppers. Our set up, as you note, all disappears into the roof and allows us to choose either up or down for our bed.

Later addition: I do unzip the separate small extra bit of VW supplied mattress, and leave that in the roof, to keep the bed base level past the springs.
