Always look on the bright side of life, de do ...

Maybe we could try a caption competition?
Here's one for starters...

"I know the borders are now open but I like this pitch. I am just building myself up to raise my pop-up"

That would fit nicely on a beach tailgate instead of a bike rack.

In a different life I had a wonderful plate of paella courtesy of a Spanish truck driver during an enforced week end stop in Switzerland.
Most long haul truckers have a good supply of food and are quite good at cooking it. They usually have a good selection of wine too!
The cabs of most modern trucks are even fitted with small freezers as well as fridges.

This vid is of Polish trucker Iwona Blecharczyk, who as well as being a very skilful Convoi exceptionnel driver is an imaginative cook whilst on the road. She's also very easy on the eye which has helped her raise her Utube profile over the years, including demonstrating various tractor units for different manufacturers.

Gosh, only the second female lorry driver I have ever seen. Someone I know who operates a fleet of trucks says that there is a huge problem recruiting young people and no doubt female drivers and the average age of a truck driver is around 54, and most are of course male.

I once meet a driver who would make a Camion stew at the end of his week where whatever he had left over went in a pot. Less to throw away or carry home. Made sense really.

I can drive an HGV but never bothered taking my licence due to the rules changes (i.e I would have to do a rigid , a period of time and then take my HGV1). Hence why the average age is 54! (Its onerous)

My cousin has his HGV1 but he has more free time and keeps badging me to do it when I complain about Architecture. He only drives an 8 wheeler tipper when he needs some extra money. Tells me how much he makes which is frankly less than I do!

My Uncle is probably skewing those figures, 72 and still working full time, doing cross channel runs in his HGV

I'm the same, haven't maintained my HGV licence. But it was a good way to earn money back in the days when I was a (mature) student, middle of the night runs from Norfolk through the East End down to Smithfield Market with truckloads of pig carcasses, overtime rates and good fun with the Smithfield traders (pubs open at 5am, IIRC). Rule was that any meat still to be offloaded from the truck or on the tail lift was safe to leave, but once on a trolley it became fair game and would disappear if backs were turned. Honour among thieves. Happy days.

Driven. .. apologies to Dione Warwick ... Trucks and busses and planes...

and every time I think of them I think of this :D

I wonder why?

My Dad was an owner operator with a DAF2800 in the 80s:thumb. But I spent my youth in a large transport yard with him. Luckily I was tall when I was young and everything was fair game even outside the yard.

By the time I got to the legal age for my HGV I had lost interest and had already started my career path.

I wonder if they tried that on the M20 to pass the time with a few Volvo trucks?

Granny Jen, Just found the other Volvo stunt video - Ballerina tightrope between 2 tricks before tunnel:

Sort of related. Truck platooning. My son did a project for a Scania new vehicle launch which featured this technology.

Looks like Arlanda test track where we race our bikes, Scania have a lot of test infrastructure out on the roads too, overhead electrification section from Uppsala to Gävle is always cool to see.

I did my first gig at Scania in Södertalje in 2016 when we moved, the platooning was planned for buses too, essentially operating like a train and the buses breaking off to service the towns then reforming for efficient motorway driving.
