I've got a 2012 T5SE which has the original basic radio plus a Parrot kit and I'm looking to upgrade. I'm being steered by fitters towards either the Pioneer SPH DA250 DAB or the slightly more minty Kenwood DMX8020 DAB. Has anyone got these or similar fitted and have they experienced any issues in terms of screen visibility?

Anyone got any better alternative suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks. I saw that earlier thread and I have spoken to him. Very helpful guy. The Kenwood is his recommendation. He’s too far away for me to use his fitting services sadly.

I've been looking at the new pioneer tablet head unit. Looks interesting though I've not had chance to look at it in the flesh.
My current kenwood does what I want but the sound isn't as good as before, next option is new speakers, which is then more money!

I've had the non dab version of the pioneer before in a car. It was a great system, especially when using with the apply car play (iphone) for navigation, spotify and telephone calls.

I found the screen to be quite good even in sunlight... the only issue I had, which is probably more of an apply car play issue, was that the menu which runs down either the left or right side of the screen was a little small to use.

That is an issue. The local fitter I've found suggested to me I get the new head unit in first and then look at speakers if it doesn't give me the sound I want. Given my hearing in the higher ranges isn't great I'll have to rely on my better half for that.

I've been told that about the Pioneer sets. One of the reasons Absolute Audio was steering me towards the Kenwood but thats another £170 plus. VW seem to have a thing going with Alpine but they're more expensive still and the local guy uses Pioneer in his own vehicle so it can't be bad kit.

Hi I have the Pioneer DA230 which is a fantastic unit BUT it's not he best in direct sunlight.

Aargh! I was just veering towards the Pioneer! Having said that the 250 has apparently got the next generation screen so it might not be a problem. Thanks for the info. anyway..

Stock also seems to be an issue at the minute. No one seems to have online stock of the Pioneer until end of July at the earliest and the physical vehicle audio centres
In this part of the world have all been squeezed out of the market.
