Bike rack advice

I really wouldn't advise trying to lift the tailgate with any bikes on. Ive tried it with just 2 and its almost impossible. Sort of things hernias are made of..And could cause other damage especially to the roof....Also doesn't the California come with uprated struts because of the extra weight it has to contend with re the chairs etc....

Correct. The Gas struts should already be uprated.

Went for the VW one in the end and have been so happy (for 2 years now) with it. I need a small step stool to load them on as I’m a short arse but it’s great.

Good thing you’ve got that long vehicle placard on there!

The placard is a requirement in many European countries, even with just one bike.

I love that photo. It’s taken on the Tanafjordveien, about 200km northwest of the Norway - Finland - Russia triborder point. Probably the most remote place we have visited.

The overhang does seem to be something of an optical illusion. The bag for the cycle trailer only overhung the bike rack by 1 or 2 inches.
