Delighted with a new Coast delivered a week ago. Pulling a minor issue off the ‘New order delays discussion’ it does not have blanking plates under the front seats. I wouldn’t have noticed this when checking the van without the previous posts. Just a question to other new Coast owners who may have the same issue: is anyone getting these blanking plates fitted as part of their warranty? Thanks

Not there on our MY21 Coast that is 11 months old

What are they? Do they cover the gap under the seat? I’m a first time cali owner so wouldn’t have known they were missing!

It’s clear from posts elsewhere on the forum lots of Coasts have these missing. I also wouldn’t have known. My question however is anyone getting these fitted as warranty work?

There should be a rubber cover over the battery and terminals. That’s all that’s seems to be missing from photo.

Should look like this:

Please could someone post a picture of the blanking plate that is apparently missing from recent coast deliveries? I’ve not seen one but assumed it was some plastic that clicks into the visible groves under the seat on the adjacent sections.

Thanks Ch1butty

So as well as potentially missing blanking plates it does look like I’m missing a rubber cover over the leisure battery. Haven’t noticed any other issues yet but not had a Cali before + the devil’s in the detail!

No battery cover on ours either. Are you sure that isn't normal on T6.1? Ocean and Coast?

You are only missing the rubber battery cover. There are no blanking plates fitted as far as I am aware, otherwise it would restrict seat movement (fore / aft) if it ever came loose - plus one less thing to rattle!

Might be a cost saving exercise by VW. Provided the positive terminal is not also exposed it’s not really an issue as you won’t be able to accidentally short the +/- terminals.

I never got to the bottom of ‘blankingplategate’. I emailed my suppling dealer (Liverpool) they replied that there shouldn’t be blanking plates and they’re left open to allow for air flow over the battery/electrics ! I then went into my local dealer. The parts guy looked up ‘blanking plates’ on their system ( you know the exploded diagram ). Blanking plates arnt listed for the Coast but are listed for the Ocean. £75 for both. A bargain if ever I saw one ! Anyway I left it and put black tape on the lower portions of my glasses so I couldn’t see all the wires when I’m sat in the van. Two things. The first is that blanking plates are shown in the California brochure. Not the clearest image, a bit like a photo of big foot or the lock ness monster) but they are there and there are slots for blanking plates on the seats.
