Comfort insurance

Who's that with Cody? Are you young ? Or is it your location pushing it up? Mines £260 with comfort so by the sound of
Things it will be £290 next year :thumb

Living in Germany for a year or so and getting fleeced in a cornered market. No UK company will touch me so having to use German insurance company. And at 50, yep, still a young lad.

Will update profile in a second.

That explains the high premium. I would pay £800 to drive my Cali if I had to. Funny though I own a fiesta diesel
And that costs me more than the Cali. How they work it out il never know. :thumb

Agree, it's more than worth it, just really frustrating when it cost me bout £250 to insure in UK and even got rebate when chopped across from my Avensis T180. The upside is no road tax

And having had -10 to 13 all week, the aux heater has been blinding in warming up the cali in the mornings.

Annual Mileage and Comfort Insurance

I have just got a quote from Comfort insurance, online it came out at over £360, but they called me back a few times and I finally spoke to them this morning.

They quoted me over the phone £270 ish. It looks like the difference is based on mileage. Not being sure how many I am going to do the quote was based on annual mileage of 6000.

What experience have people got of the mileage you each do annually, I will not be using the van for work, so mainly weekends and holidays.

Also any experience of Comfort and their costs if you need to increase the mileage part way though the year, is this expensive?

Thanks
Mark

After a really helpful chat on the phone with Steve from Comfort the other day, I imagine we'll be going with them too :)

The sweet spot on mileage seems to be 8000m. I was quoted ~£300 for 6000m, £320 for 8000m, and £380 for 10000m.
Steve said that most people go for 6000m. Whilst I'm not sure what we'll end covering in our first year, as there's an admin cost in upgrading if you go over your agreed mileage ceiling it makes sense for us to go for 8000.

There's a 25% premium for parking the Cali on the road.
Whilst they don't mention it on the website, they do recognise both Tracker Monitor and Tracker Locate as recognised tracker systems, so are entitled to the (mild) 5% discount.

Re: Annual Mileage and Comfort Insurance

I've been quoted £415 for unlimited mileage, parked on road. That includes 5% discount for cat 6 tracker (I checked this with them, cos web site says 'cat 5', but my dealer-fitted model is on their 'approved list' so also qualifies).

Just wanted to let you know that we FINALLY got insurance for our California, after calling about 20 different companies, including all the specialists recommended. £516 with RBS, including 5 yrs no claims protection and Class 1 business use. There was a clause there that you couldn't be in the entertainment or fashion industry. I explained that we made straightforward corporate videos and marketing films, and got them to check and double-check, because we had so many rejections, and were about to give up. Fortunately there was somebody sensible who saw that we weren't high risk, because we were seriously beginning to believe we'd have to give up on the idea of a California altogether. I did have one other quote come through the other day, from our specialist media insurers, for about £2,500!

Anyway took delivery of our Sand Beige 140PS about 10 days ago - hooray!

Glad you got it sorted and took delivery of your Cali. :thumb  :thumb

Sorted! £380 for unlimited mileage, me + 1 named driver, parked on street (Leicester), 5% discount for tracker.

And just to confirm (cos I've seen the question asked before, and it was one of my requirements too) - class 1 business use is included.

Sounds a lot of cover for the money. Well done :thumb

Just insured with Comfort at £266 - they said we should have a separate document confirming Thatcham 1 so do we?

I wasn't asked for any documentation to prove alarm as Thatcham 1 or tracker as Thatcham 5/6 - they were quite happy with verbal confirmation.

I suppose the request for proof may be in the documenation they send out - will wait and see.

I have to say I wasn't asked either. I should think with all the members on here insured with
Them they should know that it's a cat 1 alarm. :doh :doh

I have organised Comfort Insurance (£270) which I am well pleased with and they did state to me that I should receive the Cat 1 alarm confirmation with the car. I could not find any reference to Cat 1 in the documentation as per the previous post. One thing I absolutely love about this insurance is the fact that they do not use "no claims" to set the price of the insurance which means in the unfortunate event of an accident the premium will not go up.

Is that with limited mileage ??

which means in the unfortunate event of an accident the premium will not go up.

HaHa, it WILL go up if you claim because they will class you as a worse risk !!!

Has the Cali got cat 1 ..???
Vw dealer says it has all the spec of a cat 1 on the the Cali as its an extra pack for the transporter and says cat 1 ,but same write up ( if you know what I mean ) :)
£292 for 10k miles with comfort with like for like replacement in first year
Or
£229 for 6k miles
Work use as well as social use etc etc

I went for unlimted miles and chose factory option for security.

Once you have the online quote saved, phone them.

I'm watching Kev :)

I think comfort appeals ,as it's a dedicated motorhome campervan insurance ...

I got my best quote off of the Camping and Caravan Club - They were a lot cheaper and also have back to new for the first 2 years.
