Cool Wheels

Just thought that I'd do a photo to show how the tyre profile relates to wheel/tyre overall height.

Left 255/60/18; centre 235/55/18; right 235/55/17

Is the left one nearer ?:)
No all adjacent/centred. you may also notice that there isn't much tread width difference between a 255 and a 235, often just more air gap/distance between the radial treads.

If higher it will actually be nearer as well but wheel centres in a line.

Do you use them all on your Cali ?
I use 16´s and 18´s but with the right tyre choice the difference
in diameter is only 7mm.

No I bought a set of Amorak 18" that came with the 255/60 tyre. The guy that I bought them off reckoned that his friend put them on his T5 van for a trip to a ski resort!!!
I put a 235/55/18 to try but as I have air suspension and the Amorak has 45 Offset it was too close to the front wing edge when lowered, reckon OK with standard height suspension. Might try a 235/50/18 as that is the same as the 17" tyre in height as is the 255/45/18.
Load rating gives very restricted tyre size options.

A blue pinstripe was suggested to go with the blue center caps. That’s just blue trimming tape for a proof of concept, I know it’s not perfectly straight. Can’t decide if I like it. Opinions?

I think I prefer the wheel without the pinstripe.

I really like those wheels, I can see a set on my white Beach :)

I'm thinking I don't want to go too big on the wheels to keep tyre costs down and less worries about them getting damaged parking etc. The stock 16" wheels are a luxury in this regard although the ride is a bit bouncy even with the VW lowering springs.
