Crit'Air sticker

Sorry in advance - a bit off topic, but on a right hand drive where are people sticking the crit’ air sticker? And, can you just stick it on and take it off as required?
Actually a good question. Maybe they have cameras that check one side of the vehicle.. I would like to know too, for when/if I receive my sticker!

You cannot remove it without destroying it.

I cut my sticker out, popped it in an old tax disc holder and just stick it on the windscreen when we are travelling.

I was told by a mate who lives in France it should be on the bottom corner (uk drivers side) of the windscreen and easily visible.

The official website of the French government specifies that the sticker must be stuck on the windshield at the bottom right.

It does, but presumably they mean bottom right of windscreen if you’re sitting inside the car applying the sticker?

The official video shows it this side as well as the photo below.

I’m going to double check with my friend as we are off over there again in a few weeks!

That’s where I put mine. It’s low enough that you don’t notice it when driving.

Bottom right corner as you look from drivers seat. No, you can't remove it without destroying it, so just leave it on for any further trips you do, it's not an annual thing (like a Swiss vignette for example).

Quick question. Just about to sell Cali, do I just peel off sticker or do I let any authorities know in France? Currently the sticker is linked to the van and my name and address.

Hello
Not sure if this is the best thread to post this on...
I've just bought a 2012 registered California SE, and received the V5 today.
Tried to apply for a Crit Air sticker but the V5 does not have a Vehicle Category (section J) specified.
DVLA have advised that when the vehicle was first registered the Vehicle Category section wasn't required or provided.
DVLA said I need to arrange an IVA test (Individual Vehicle Assessment) to verify it's a campervan to assign an M1 or M2 category. Cost of IVA test is around £200 and a 200 mile round trip to either Bristol or Exeter!
Just wondered if anyone has come across this issue and if so, an easier solution?
Many thanks
Nick

I don't know anything about vehicle registrations with DVLA. As far as the Crit'Air sticker goes, I would just apply with whatever registration document you have now and indicate the M1 category in the application. It's just a few euros for the application and chances are they'll send you a sticker.

Ultimately, I agree with you and others posting here - bottom right. I asked because the instructions also mentioned something along the lines of this location not affecting a clear view, which would be correct for a left hand drive but not right hand drive.

No. The sticker is for the vehicle Not the Owner, and is for the life of the vehicle. No need to inform anyone.

Hello, I'm heading to France in my T5 Cali next week and have just read that I need a Crit' Air vignette to go in to many French cities. Does anyone know if its possible to buy these stickers once you're in France (rather than buying them online which takes many weeks to arrive)? Thanks!
You don’t need sticker but just a confirmation should suffice to drive inside the big cities . Note that if you drive on motorways then this sticker is not needed.

The sticker contains the VIN-number and number plate. In Belgium, you can take your number plate to your next car. If you sell your car, the number plate doesn't stay on the vehicle, making the sticker useless for the next owner.
So for The Netherlands and other countries where the number plate stays on the car, you can use the sticker for the next owner, but for other countries where the number plate isn't fixed on the car, you have to buy a new one for your new vehicle, and is useless for the next owner.

Agree. It might be overkill, but I’d remove anything that could trace back to my info., even a personalised plate.

Thanks Kingfisher...the application was approved and sticker in the post...seems like they don't check the details too closely!

If you have a cherished number on your van that you are keeping, then the Crit'Air sticker will need to come off as the number will change back to the original registration one.

Other than that, it can stay on the vehicle without informing the French authorities.

And I won’t get any fines, etc. ?
