Drivers Door - Rubbing noise

Hi VW Forum,

My drivers door started making a noise as I opened and closed it this week. I've worked out that the noise is from inside door teeth that are shaped to run against a rolling ball shape attached to the body. Comparing it with the passenger door the ball spins as the door opens and closes. But on the drivers it's not turning so creating a rubbing noise.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Check if something is broken , oxidated .
Try greasing it ....wd40 , silicon spray,...

GT 85, similar to WD 40 worked for me.

Great replies and I love the diagram. I forgot to mentioned that I had tried the grease + WD40 but no joy.

I may need to book this one in.
