Electric hook up and batteries

Was just about to buy an older Beach... Then realised it doesn't have an electric hook-up.
I've noticed older thread saying that you can fit these retrofit them but wanted to know what the more up-to-date cost by be and whether it's worth putting a solar panel on top rather than an electric hook-up. Thanks Chris
