Hi all,

Yesterday I noticed a smell of exhaust fumes in the cab of my T6 Beach. It has the basic aircon and when in cold it seemed to be fine. It’s been on cold all summer without any issues. However, as it’s been getting chilly lately I turned the temperature up and could smell exhaust fumes. This was driving on the motorway at about 70.

I’ve read about EGR pipes cracking, is that all it could be? Or are there other potential causes?

It’s booked in with Vindis on 24th, but do you think it’s safe to drive with windows open in the meantime? VW didn’t say one way or the other.

Would appreciate some advice, thanks.

Cracked rear EGR pipe, turn on , lift bonnet , put your right hand around side back of the engine , you’ll feel the gas escaping from the top top tube

Here is a photo of mine which failed

When you start up the engine you can smell the fumes when standing outside the van
