Extended VW Warranty Options At End Of 3 Years

Very much a find what meets any individual criteria but from my trawling around various extended warranty suppliers the VW option came bottom of the product value list.

I bought a 17’ 204 DSG used. So far,
  1. The ACC broke vw repaired under warranty but wouldn’t tell me what went wrong.
  2. The locking on the sliding door lock started sticking, I diagnosed it with help thanks to this forum yet it took me 3 times taking it in for them to accept that I actually was a fault and I had to complain to the head of service who eventually got a mechanic to come look at it and he said, yeh that needs replacing.
  3. Heated wing mirrors stopped working needed a warranty repair.
  4. Cupboard sliding door under the sink expanded (extreme heat last year?) and started rubbing against the other door and scratching the lacker off, VW replaced the offending door doing the scratching but wouldn’t replace the one that was scratched. They said it was my fault for putting stuff in the cupboard (I wasn’t carrying anything). In the end I’ve just given in with that garage.
Staff are rude and treat you like you’re an idiot just because you want something fixed under warranty that isn’t working. I’m moving to another garage. Absolute joke.

I absolutely love this van but if another thing goes wrong like this I’m gna get rid. Sick of spending time at the garage honestly. Rather than another warranty which doesn’t seem worth the paper it’s written on (unless you argue the toss with them) I’m going to find a local specialist and pay them instead, at least they’ve got a vested interest.

Oh I forgot, they broke the footwell light and wouldn’t repair it, so I did it myself.

Still got a couple of months left on my warranty but I’m not going back now, unless the engine falls out or something lol.

I have been thinking about this myself, as my warranty ends at the end of March. Mileage 31k.

I have just gone on the VW website.

Full all component cover with £0 excess and up to 15k miles a year cost is £699.98

In 3 years I have used warranty 2 times to replace radio head unit and to replace rear blind. I was told that the head unit was around £2000 to replace, but I would probably buy a Kenwood or similar if it went again. Blind probably a couple of hundred £ ?

I always have VW servicing when due, so hope that anything will be picked up here.

I will look at other non VW warranty options before making final decision.
Is that price for one year only

No for 3 years cover with MotorEasy. They gave me an extra 3 months too, just for asking.
Very interesting topic, my warranty expires next month and to be honest I don't have much faith in the van engine wise as it is in the dealer now having a new inlet manifold fitted with only 9500 miles on the clock? Any way, I have just gone into motorwise website and put my reg in and it comes back saying we only do cars? It sounds reasonable £1200 for 3 years more peace of mind

Check the excluded items carefully and limit on any repair. I ended up with Warrantywise as they covered all of the emissions system which others totally excluded. Potentially a big ticket area. Good luck.

May I ask how much it cost and how long did you take it out for?

3 years £1600ish can be transferred to new owner if sold. A safe selling point I thought. It was the top spec package which includes repairs outside UK and AA cover

Mine also up for warranty and was shocked at VW’s pricing. £680 for one year, <10k miles annually and £100 excess.

Will look at all the 3rd party options discussed in this thread, as no way will I take VW’s option.

I found VW offerring was the lowest cover on parts and cost, nothing like 3 year warranty.

I put my reg in and it came back “ only cover cars sorry” ????!

That is strange ? I was told by my local VW dealer that i could not have VW cover because of age !
this is the 2 quotes i have had one for all parts and the other for major parts only , this is for 15,000 miles or less per year
The i put my details into motoreasy and they said only cover cars ! Strange i know someone who has a policy with them and there are a few on these forums

Have a look at VW All In, £800 for two years warranty, road side assist, 2 services, 2 MOTs.
Not sure how you got it that low , possibly mine os 7 years old and yours is ????

It’s a great deal. I noticed that Audi are doing the same.
If you read the warranty info it mentions that cupboards and body are not covered. I wonder if it covers the roof?
Even if it doesn’t, it’s great value for the mechanical cover alone once you take off the price of roadside assistance, servicing and MOTs.
